I have been working at The Gap part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Co-workers are a diverse, easy to get along with population. Compensation is on par with experience and willingness to work. Pay raises are regular (annual review). Gap has a great community service program that works with local charities or programs to give back. Company culture is inclusive of all races, religions, sexual identity..etc. I feel safe and comfortable working here.

    Cons

The typical retail schedule needs to be changed. Having to wait until a few days before the week starts in order to make plans for the upcoming week (or month!) is really difficult, especially if you're trying to balance it with school or family responsibilities.

I worked at The Gap part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Great benefits
If you have a great team and coworkers, then you are very lucky
Relatively flexible with my schedule (as long as I could find someone to cover my shift)

    Cons

    Low pay
    Internal dispute among managers
"Required" to open a certain amount of Gap Credit Cards
    Hard to move upwards

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I heard other stores did yearly or half yearly reviews of their employees to give them direction or advice on how to improve and potentially get a pay raise. Take the time to listen to the goals of your employees

    I worked at The Gap

    Pros

having seasonal jobs suit my school and personal life schedule needs. the store discount is nice for buying holiday gifts.

    Cons

this job is pretty boring and not especially challenging for me, more of a time filler and small extra paycheck. holiday shoppers are generally a nightmare.

I worked at The Gap part-time for less than a year

    Pros

Had personal friends from school at job. (Only reason I stayed as long as I did)

    Cons

    Retail generally isn't fun.
Closing the store and folding all the clothes for 4-5 hours sucked. (Could've been more tolerable if they let us listen to our own music)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Letting employees listen to music on their ipods and such, would make closing the store a lot more enjoyable.
