I worked at The Gap full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Fantastic benefits that start immediately upon hire. They recently implemented ROWE: Results Only Work Environment which is extremely progressive and is conducive to being happier at work and in life in general. I loved my time there and I appreciate all that I was able to learn and contribute to the company.

    Cons

Some of the higher up executives don't have much experience in fashion and are more business/numbers oriented, which detracts from achieving the highest design quality and productivity for employees. It was a hindrance in many ways, including fully understanding the needs of the employees in order to turn out the best product possible. Other than that it was great.

I have been working at The Gap full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

    People are young go-getters and like to drive results; vibrant culture; location is awesome if you're at 2 Folsom or 1 Harrison; great discount on product;

    Cons

Salary not the highest; can be clicky; new bonus structure doesn't guarantee a payout and is too dependent on financial results....

I have been working at The Gap part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Awesome employee discount and great flexibility with hours. I enjoyed my time working with the Gap's other great employees. The starting wage is good and if you work hard, it is valued and recognized by store leadership.

    Cons

Constantly pressured to push Gap credit cards creating, at times, uncomfortable situations. Sometimes scheduling issues left an employee overworked trying to manage the entire store with little help.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Sometimes it's worth scheduling additional staff so the store looks its best.

    Pros

    Fun, quirky, atmosphere.

    Cons

    Many redundancies in systems.
Issues with multiple systems across the product pipeline
Constant turnover resulting in frequent holes in team

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at The Gap part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Discount on merchandise, reasonable accommodation of school schedule, customers were never rude. I was hired as a seasonal (holiday) sales associate so I mainly was assigned to folding clothing for the entirety of my shift - easy work with some customer interaction. Mainly answering questions about item locations and sales.

    Cons

Very low pay, lots of repetitive work. Pretty often, I was expected to continue working 2-3 hours beyond the shift time I was scheduled for.

I have been working at The Gap part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Sales experience, meeting new people, goal-oriented, fashion-forward, customer service oriented, flexible schedule, low but decent pay, long shifts and more hours usually

    Cons

Selling is brutal sometimes, customers often don't treat you well, unrealistic credit card sales goals, questionable manufacturing operations, not much room for career growth

I have been working at The Gap part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

All managers and employees are excellent personalities. Ive never had a bad day here.

    Cons

Scheduling! Employees only get 1-3 days a week (4-15hrs TOTAL). 4 employees working when realistically there needs to more employees on the sales floor during standard busy hours and days.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reconfigure the hours to employees. Sometimes paying 2 more employees to work is better than having the store look like Wal-Mart and customers unattended :-)

I have been working at The Gap part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    The hours are always available.

    Cons

Once you start working a high volume of hours it is hard to reduce.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do not schedule marketing hours and next day shipment! I would get off around 11:15pm on Sunday and have to return to work at 5:45am.
