    Pros

Culture is dynamic and radiant. Lots of opportunity to grow and move internally to support career growth and development. Innovation and creativity is supported and rewarded.

    Cons

Struggling business creates internal churn in order to manage quarterly financials. Main, anchoring brand is being eaten by competitors who offer fashion forward clothes for much less. Company needs to either reduce prices or offer unique, quality style consumers are willing to pay extra $ for. Otherwise, internal churn will continue to lose bright, let talent.

I worked at The Gap part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

The company is great, I worked in one of the store fronts. My coworkers were very welcoming to new employees. As a student worker, they are very flexible with scheduling. Always able to get more hours if asked or needed.

    Cons

Changes in management, changes the entire dynamic of work at the store. Less hours given, with the amount of new employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find ways to allow more empowerment for the employees.

    I worked at The Gap

    Pros

The discount and culture. Gap offers a fantastic discount to all employees, make sure you don't abuse it! They also have an amazing culture involving volunteering and fun things for employees. They had out things Reward Points in which employees receive for being great partners and then they can redeem them on this amazing site for cool products!

    Cons

Working weekends and the schedule. You don't get a straight 9-5 job, hours vary and you have to work weekends, holidays, etc. Planning is hard and being with your family on different occasions in difficult.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure you understand that while employees sign up to work for GAP that sometimes it will be difficult to leave their families on Christmas Eve because your store is open, find a way to support them.

I have been working at The Gap part-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I'm a college student and I've worked in a couple different Gaps on the east coast and in Southern California, and I love the Gap environment. Management is always friendly - although disorganized in Southern California, but that's just the SoCal way, and everyone is always helpful. The company minimum just went up to $10/hr, which doesn't effect me, but I know that is far above national minimum wage, and even further above minimum wage in some of the less populous states. 50% off all full priced items at Gap!

    Cons

Sometimes you don't get the hours you want, while other times you get too many hours at once. Not a lot of exposure to opportunities to rise up within the company.
