    Enjoyable Experience

    Senior Financial Analyst (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsThe people are a pleasure to work with and be around. Work/life balance is good. Company has good values. The work was good experience and I learned a lot.

ConsEvery year there is major re-organization which is a drag on the employees and consumes a lot of time which could be directed elsewhere.

Advice to Senior ManagementNone other than it would be nice to have some continuity with management.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Great place to work

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsI worked at Gap (Headquarters) for more than 5 years. Very talented people, challenging work, great perks (discount). Trying to be progressive from a "people" perspective - i.e. ROWE / flexible work environment

ConsLow on pay, a lot of politics/bureaucracy. Some people have been at Gap Inc. for TOO LONG. Time for more fresh blood.

Advice to Senior ManagementTone from the top - you need people in leadership roles that people can look up to. You should build in core, fundamental leadership requirements for people at the VP+ levels and not promote people or retain them if they don't demonstrate those competencies.

ProsROWE culture is great! Flexibility at corporate office and ability to work remote. Casual dress code and decent bonus payments.

ConsTraining budget can get cut. High workloads and head count reductions. Corporate politics.

Advice to Senior ManagementConflicting messages- budget cuts and hiring freezes while raising minimum wage for stores.

Great company to work for that cares about the community.

    Human Resources Specialist (Former Employee)
    San Francisco, CA

ProsGreat focus on the community. Investing programs (philanthropic) that support underserved communities, focus on volunteerism, strong senior leadership. Solid benefits with 401K, health, product discount (50%).

ConsBeing such a big company, some brands and areas of the company are stronger than others. The HQ employees can maintain a strong work life balance whereas store/field employees struggle more with work-life balance. Speciality apparel is such an up and down business so it can be frustrating when business is not going well.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider reviewing what teams have strong culture and replicating some of those elements into other departments.
