I have been working at The Glover Park Group as an intern

    Pros

Interesting projects if you stick with the right people. Lots of people in the city have heard of Glover Park Group.

Fun environment to work in, occasional happy hours.

    Cons

Very unstructured, hard to form bonds with staff. No one is directly overseeing you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pair interns with a handful of staff so they develop relationships

I worked at The Glover Park Group as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

Paid internship!!! The people are incredibly bright and always treated the interns with respect. The actual work is typical intern-level work, but the people are awesome and there are lots of chances to get involved with cool projects. Glover Park has a very open culture and higher ups are always open for questions/advice/contacts. Periodically there are also free sandwiches. Honestly the sandwiches alone would make the internship worthwhile.

    Cons

The intern role is not very structured and you have to be a jack of all trades (I found this to be a positive). You also have to stack drinks, maintain a clean kitchen, and do other various odd jobs. I honestly enjoyed this since it was a break from the everyday work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

More sandwiches!! Also a more structured intern training program(1-2 days of modules)/guidebook would be very helpful.

    Pros

The staff were experts in their fields and offered great insights in public affairs and government relations. The office culture was great.

    Cons

The salaries were less than other companies, office politics were prevalent, the structure of the company was difficult to work in.

I worked at The Glover Park Group

    Pros

GPG is an incredibly flat, open office, one which is treats its workers very well and allows for creativity and growth. The paid internship program is great because of the substantive experience (interns work alongside project teams). The nature of the work is strategy based, so the projects are very dynamic and challenging. The office culture is phenomenal and they make a great effort to be inclusive.

    Cons

The internship program could use more structure. Many times the interns work on fluid projects so the work can be either all their or not. It is up to the individual to seek out projects. Luckily there are many types of clients, so one can usually find something interesting and useful.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

From an HR perspective the training and attention paid to interns is phenomenal. Although this was great, I would have liked the option of a formal in office mentor.

I have been working at The Glover Park Group

    Pros

Wonderful colleagues, smart mentors, interesting clients, great location. It's very easy to learn a lot in a little amount of time.

    Cons

Although the pace varies from day to day depending on clients' needs, it's not generally seen as acceptable to leave early, even if there's nothing more to be done. But that depends on the boss.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The firm is a great place to work.
