I have been working at The Goddard School

    Pros

Alot of new changes to this location make it a more positive work environment,

    Cons

Understaffing sometimes becomes an issue as you don't always know what class you will be in each day.

  2.

I hope all Goddard Schools are not like the Owings Mills, MD. location.

I worked at The Goddard School full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Helps new people understand the benefits to proper hand washing, lesson plans, Time Management.

    Cons

Female owner is a bully and always has an attitude. Pays employees well below state standards. Hires people outside the company instead of promotions inside the company. Never get out within a half hour past your time and will make or let others leave before you who are scheduled to be a closer. There are a lot of people hired there who does not have degree in Early Childhood Education or Development. Lies about benefits; there are none. Will take back overtime by giving a two hour lunch break. No consideration that you have a life outside of Goddard. Does not keep ratio. Places children in classrooms they have no business being in (like newly transitioned toddlers placed into the twos classroom) or moves children back (infant 2 children back to infant 1 classroom)

I have been working at The Goddard School full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Children and families are collaborative. Truly wonderful.

    Cons

Staff and teachers are lowest paid in industry. They market they'll pay $15.00 hourly, HA it's a flat set rate at $11.23 with no negotiation. The corporate constantly implements changes, but they have no experience with children. No training. I was told every say I would be in a different class. Very inconsistent.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less micromanagement and strict policies. Live a little. More paid training and respect teachers. I promise their job is more stressful than complaining about paperwork.

I worked at The Goddard School full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

The children were the only thing that made it worth coming to school everyday. The bond you create with them. You want to provide stability into the classroom because you know how high the turnover rate is for childcare.

    Cons

Where do I start? Low pay with high expectations and being told that it is your "duty" as a teacher to take on the workload in and out of the school. Expectations of a salaried public school teacher but in reality we were nothing like that. The management is very rude and not understanding. Management shows favoritism to certain employees because of created friendships outside of the workplace. If you are not in their "click" you will be treated differently. Short amount of time to do lesson plans which are very detailed and take time to do. You get at most three hours of lesson planning time per month but it takes you three hours to even try to complete one day of lesson plans. Markets as a 5 star school but really has 3 star quality. Says to have catered lunches but it's frozen food and can food that is fixed in the makeshift kitchen with no stove not the school lunches from the local elementary school that parents were thinking they are paying for. The snack combos that they provide for the kids are horrible and are rationed off as if parents havent paid for their child to have enough snack. Who wants oranges and crackers or with water after paying 175$ a day for their child to get fed. Computers don't work. Internet is down 80% of the time. They are only concerned with enrollment. Treat your teachers like crap but parents like royalty only because they pay the bills. The turnover rate is SO high in this place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Close your doors. Start over. Listen to your employees because they are the ones working day to day in the classroom.

I worked at The Goddard School

    Pros

You know things I loved about the goddard....
    1. The structure and lesson planning
    2. The different summer activities
    3. Lisa who is the director and Amanda the assistant director are both amazing people to work for
    4. Flexibility on schedules
    5. Teacher friendships you build

    Cons

    Well to begin:

    1. The owner Cindy is an absolute two faced woman.
    2. Parking sucks
    3. Really nowhere around that area to get food
    4. They are strict with teacher student or teacher parent. ...they don't like you babysitting for the kids
    5. More stabilit in part time schedules.
    6. Needs to pay attention to people who have earned raises.
