I worked at The HOPE Foundation full-time
Pros – Friendly staff, mostly good people on the office level. There were always enough hardworking people around to keep the company afloat during frequent spells of inefficiency and unnecessary distraction.
Cons – Targets were constantly changed, and goals were ALWAYS unattainable. The President of the organization would micromanage in areas in which he had no expertise, inevitably resulting in diminished quality of work. His own self interests repeatedly got in the way of organizational progress.
Advice to Senior Management – Follow your own mission. It will be impossible to get schools and districts to collaborate more effectively when your own organization fails in that very area.
Put your organization and mission before yourself, or at least find a way to separate the two.
– I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company
