    Pros

    Good co-workers. Good benefits. . Managers were fair and company seemed to be well run.

    Cons

    Compensation could be better. Work was not very challenging but at least not too boring.

    Keep doing what you are doing.

    Not for city people.... The culture is old fashion and not as modern as you'd like..... Lacks diversity.

    job security, overtime often, good coworkers, clean environment, helpful team leaders

    Cons

    never ending work load, responsible for things out of your control, surveys are not simple for customers to understand, more jobs at home needed for qualified staff

    I have been working at The Hartford full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Some great people (though it's a big department). Huge investments into better Hr, training, and career support in recent years, particularly in Claims. A growing emphasis on the behaviors of 'how' people work together in addition to the 'what' gets done and on engagement concepts. New, modern workspaces in Hartford Office.

    Cons

    A lot of cut backs in resources in recent years leaves those remaining to carry the load AND try to make things better. That doesn't work forever, and it penalizes the people doing the work in favor of the people talking well about the work because so few people have more than a few minutes to hear the headlines. Some leaders are yellers.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more people and invest in their engagement with better coaching and accountability of the culture.

    Pros

    Location, pay, building is new and clean

    Cons

    management cultivates "pets" who get the better shifts, etc, discipline is not meted equally, work load distributed by favorites, training by virtual trainers on speaker phone in different states is sub par, no clear direction on protocol of scripting

    Advice to Management

    1. You may ASK me a question, you may not AX me that same question. 2. Graduate from high school emotionally before starting in the workforce

    Pros

    The AARP members. Loved to inform them on insurance, and I also loved the upselling of our products. Enjoyed my work/life balance, as well as my work experience.

    Cons

    Some of the members could not grasp the concept of insurance. i.e. rating of policies, and company demand on overtime, with no advance notice.

    Advice to Management

    Not much, just give advance notice on changes and if overtime is needed

    Pros

    Good training. Most of the coverage issues were pretty cut and dry once you were there for a few months. And got to work from home.

    Cons

    Astronomically more work than you're "supposed" to have. Do you like contacting people on time? Not gonna happen. Do you enjoy the phone ringing off the hook, leaving you unable to actually get other work done? Good...because that'll happen all day every day. Although this may have changed - 2011 is the most recent "last" year Glassdoor allowed me to choose, but I left prior to 2011.

    Advice to Management

    Hire more ICRs.
