I have been working at The Home Depot full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Lots of flexibility with requesting time or days off. Nice little perks like discounts on certain associate pricing, stocks. Love the Homer Fund which you pay into it with as little as $1 p/paycheck and in case of personal circumstance Home depot doubles what you've put in as well as the associates will pitch in in time of need and it'll be doubled as well.

    Cons

Some of the higher ups sometimes tend to let the position get to their heads so they're harder to work with. But all in all most of them are okay as long as you communicate with them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Some need to develop better people skills. There's a difference between commanding someone to do something rather than letting you know they spotted something that needs to be done.

I have been working at The Home Depot part-time for more than a year

    Pros

its good to know you have a job to go to, to make some money for whatever your outside needs maybe. you can somewhat advance but it takes more time then you think

    Cons

it takes along time for cerain people to be recognized for some things, the company isnt bad, maybe some of the people running it

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Train those who want to be trained and want to learn new things, give the ones who been there longer the chance to get fulltime hours

I worked at The Home Depot

    Pros

    Knowledge of Product
    Works Well With School Schedule

    Cons

We do not receive any kind of discount.
    We have hardly any benefits.
Employees and managers are rude, disrespectful, and uncourteous.
Employees hardly know about products, especially in the garden department.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees and managers need to be trained on how to work well with a team. Many associates, cashiers, etc. cannot communicate in an effective manner that would promote group success. Too much individualism and hierarchical idiocy displayed in this company. I would never, ever go back to this 'hole.

Walking contradictions are creating a climate of anger and confusion within Home Depot.

I have been working at The Home Depot

    Pros

Flexible work schedules are given along with paid vacation and paid sick leave, which is a plus. Paid Time Off is hard to ignore as a great benefit especially when businesses are downsizing this aspect of the benefits. Decent Medical Coverage is also a plus, which is currently going under a change.

    Cons

Management seems to be lacking actual action. There are too many Department Head and Assistant Managers who expect a lot from associates without attempting to lift a helpful hand.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the customers. Customer service is lacking especially since the freight team was wiped away last Spring.
