I have been working at The Home Depot part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Relatively easy to get a job

    Cons

If you want some kind of long-term employment DO NOT even think about applying. Think about this, go to any home depot then go back to them again about 2 months. Do you see the same employees there? If not, well now you see why they are always hiring

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit firing people over small stuff and realize that you can't fire all your long-timers with no consequences. That's exactly what happened to the now defunct Circuit City. They fired all the high-paying salesmen and replace them with cheap help. Well that sure didn't work out well for them. Take heed home depot if you keep up with the abuse of employees you will end up like Circuit City.

I have been working at The Home Depot

    Pros

Autonomy (in Admin role). Learning experience. Big company with room to transfer.

    Cons

Growth opportunities are lacking. Trust issues with management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management: Get down deep in the trenches with your associates and do some of the tedious work yourselves. There's a stinky perception of "my time is better spent...." behind a closed door, delegating, letting work trickle down. It's good for managers to remind themselves what everyone is doing by sometimes doing it themselves.
