Pros
Good experience, challenging, something new everyday, many opportunities for growth and encouraged to grow. Experience depends on the unit and department you work for. Training and development are focuses and can be helpful but opportunities to apply may get easily drowned out with work during the day.
Cons
It takes a long time to move up because the industry is so complex. The pay for entry level positions doesn't always meet the stress/demands of the job. Very professional atmosphere and feel it to be uptight for the younger crowd but nice people. Be prepared to work hard and for a few years before moving up and getting paid adequately for the work you put in.
Advice to Senior Management
Great leaders and development but overall, driving the young crowd away with less than competitive pay for what are considered general/entry level positions. Same pay could be found for less stressful entry level positions elsewhere.
Pros
Sales driven, growth oriented, high energy
Cons
Work /life balance is a challenge.
Pros
Quarterly meetings are held to let the employees know how the company is doing financially, so expectations are managed where raises/bonuses, etc. are concerned and they are always upfront about that. They care about their employees and understand when personal situations come up and time off needs to be taken unexpectedly.
Cons
There are career paths for advancement within the organization, but no direction or help from upper management to help you achieve these goals. The annual reviews are not done in a timely manner and, when they are done, they are not really "reviews" to help you know where your strengths and weaknesses are, but just something to turn into HR, so you can say you've had your annual review.
Advice to Senior Management
Help your employees succeed and move up within the company by working recognizing their strengths, helping them improve their weaknesses, and following through with career paths for advancement that have been put in place.
Pros
Workplace culture is driven to win but we have fun, and though there is adequate stress it is not overbearing. It's good to grow at one of the most reputable companies in the industry.
Cons
It seems as though there are limited paths for advancement if you are not interested in sales or being an account manager. The two paths present themselves as rather cookie cutter, uninteresting, and monotonous.
Advice to Senior Management
Utilize the exuberance available in the educated youth you are hiring to modernize and better your operations and efficiencies. It'll retain young talent and help the company win.
Pros
Very fast paced environment that allows for growth and opportunities within career.
Cons
For being a benefit consultant; the benefits are not the best, but a full offering of benefits are provided.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep up the great Job!
Pros
great work-life balance, relaxed culture, great people
Cons
low pay compared to competitors
Advice to Senior Management
none...
Pros
Good Pay. Entreprenurial but maybe too much?
Cons
Poor management....little consistency from office to office
Advice to Senior Management
Not enough consistency among locations
Pros
Growing company. Challenging work and great coworkers. Company is positioned nicely to compete with our brokerage/ consulting houses. Consistent management team results in consistent work environment.
Cons
Poor work/life balance. Very little flexibility for work from home or flexible hours. Always behind on backfilling positions so employees regularly work 60+ hours.
Advice to Senior Management
Recommend getting ahead on hiring and modernize flex/ work from home philosophy. You cannot continue to compete for talent unless you evolve
Pros
Most resources, flexibility, ability to serve clients and total compensation. Clients come first and the whole organization is focused on serving them.
Cons
Lockton producers are partners instead of sales people. Thus, we have more responsibility than other brokerage firms, and we have to pay our own expenses.
Advice to Senior Management
Remain nimble. Keep focus on client service. Allow principles to evolve with new organizational realities (larger business, different challenges). Stay private!
Pros
Great company with energetic and fun company culture make it a dynamic place to work. Lots of room for career growth and professional development. Certifications and continuing education in the insurance field paid for and rewarded with bonuses. Highly recommend working here, and look forward to many more years here.
Cons
Medical benefits are not very competitive when compared to other companies of this size and caliber.
