Sense of team spirit, the lifestyle in Northland, the professionalism. The site presents many challenges that test your abilities time and time again. We use some very innovative techniques and are not afraid of new challenges.

Cons

Pay, holidays, culture on site (it is very resistant to change) often the Kiwi mentality 'she'll be right' pervades everything we do, we often fail to learn from the mistakes of others, this is not just a refinery thing but it happens to be country wide, there is sense of parochialism that holds a good country and work place back. Despite this it is a great place to be both at NZRC and in New Zealand the frustration is that it could be an even better place with little effort.

Advice to Senior Management

communicate, listen and involve Most employees at NZRC are quite passionate about their teams, jobs and the company and have only the company's best interests at heart.
Have a good look at the benefits packages avalaible and look at 'non cost' initiatives such as reducing the working week, 37.5 hours etc
