I worked at The Novo Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, excellent training, if you are a team player your will do well in this company If you are out to advance yourself, you will struggle. Whether you come in as entry level or experienced, the culture speaks for itself and has a employee first mentality. I had 3 years at Novo and I in my 15 year career, it is by far the best place to work for. Hours are flexible. It can be :work hard. play hard" but isn't every organization? They are very client focused and driven and the client will get top talent for 1/2 of the normal fees to find candidates.

    Cons

I have no cons at all

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work and continue to promote the unique culture.

I have been working at The Novo Group full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

    Positive Work/Life Balance
Open communication and engaged management team - they want you to be successful and enjoy your work
    Many opportunities for professional training
Metrics around quality of hire, cost per hire and time to fill keep us focused on providing high value to clients
Exposure to a wide variety of roles and client types

    Cons

Metrics track individual performance, so if you're not a solid contributor, it will be noticed. They hire and keep top performers, so if you're not one, it's probably not the right fit.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to listen to the customer's needs and adjust to market demands. Being a mid-sized yet nimble company, this is a competitive advantage.

I worked at The Novo Group

    Pros

They preach great benefits, which is not true. You can be better medical benefits, PTO plans, etc. elsewhere. However, for working moms this place is pretty ideal.

    Cons

-They do not train their employees for career advancement or critical thinking, in fact there is no real training offered at this company that is of any value to advance your career at Novo or beyond.
-High school like culture. The offices are not similar in any way, outside of the Milwaukee office culture is lacking quite a bit.
-They have "big goals" and have no real structure in place to reach them.

    Pros

Given a work from home day so they can rationalize/get away with micromanagement later; used as a ploy to hang over employee's head

    Cons

    Zero thought leadership
Complete lack of professional polish in many of the leaders (hair, attire, grammar/speech)
No appreciation for unconventionality or differing perspective
    Incredibly deflated employee morale
Work is in no way challenging
Ambition and drive is perceived as aggression and hostility, if you want to get ahead go somewhere else
Employees are judged based upon the number of "!"s and ":)"s they use in email, not the quality of their work and the value they add to the organization
Leadership does not listen to any voiced concerns or suggestions, while insisting they are "Transparent" and "Collaborative"
Prepare to be ostracized if you don't conform
    Absolutely zero career growth potential
The company itself doesn't even know what they are, hence the lack of new/reputable clients
    Turnover is astronomical
    Compensation is appalling
"We don't care" mentality from Leadership
Professional Services firm it is not, more like a popularity contest

I worked at The Novo Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

flexible work place, exposure to a variety of industries, able to drink wine at 4:00 pm on thursdays

    Cons

leadership is quite inept and lacks discretion, training is informal, compensation is far below market value, very "cliquey", PTO is not actually PTO as you have to make-up your hours, ever-changing sales model and targeted markets, poor project management / client communication

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Providing advice to leadership is futile and can lead to retaliation.

I have been working at The Novo Group

    Pros

Very flexible work / life balance. Able to create own schedule and work with some great recruiters and researchers. Work is ever changing and challenging. Working on training and some sort of career path which is also good.

    Cons

Limited training if any. A lot of cliques, smaller company, that have weathered the storms in the past and are just there, regardless of if they are competent or not. That's kind of a shame really.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I am not sure they would listen, haven't in the past.

I have been working at The Novo Group full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Novo supports work/life balance and is incredibly progressive as an employer. Career paths are defined and well communicated both on the delivery and sales teams- especially for such a small business. The people are both fun and incredibly intelligent. Perfect place for anyone who is self-driven, ambitious and wants to be measured by their contributions and not "butt-in-seat" time. Definition of a work-hard, play-hard culture and extremely team focused, collaborative and above all ethical. Great place for high performers seeking both balance and opportunity!

    Cons

Highly accountable environment with metrics and measurements for success. You have to be self-aware and have the ability to take feedback well and use it to improve to progress at Novo. Feedback is also expected, so you have to have the confidence to say what you want and need when asked. Can be too casual for those seeking a more typical "corporate" environment.

I worked at The Novo Group full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Superior work/life balance, excellent corporate culture, and a business model that fills an important need in the marketplace. Hourly model does allow for recruiters to constantly get exposed to different industries, and strong internal focus on quality and process leads is the opposite of a more "pray and spray" attitude of many staffing firms.

    Cons

A little cliquey (there are probably more opportunities for advancement in the Milwaukee office than Chicago or St.Louis), and recent clients may not be great fits for Novo business model, leading to frustrating searches. Leadership structure may mean your manager and teammates are never in your office. Little career path on the delivery side.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work with recruiters to help develop a challenging career path on the delivery side. Otherwise, talent may get bored or stuck in a rut.
