I have been working at The Ohio State University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great resources, great support staff, and a great institution in general. There are so many experts from every area that there are plenty of people with the expertise in any area you may need.

    Cons

Bureaucracy is often a pain. It can take awhile to get things done and there can be many layers to getting stuff done that you aren't even aware of.

I worked at The Ohio State University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good spirited and energy employer with numerous opportunities to learn more. Most staff I have encountered are kind and helpful which makes work a little more enjoyable.

    Cons

Very hard to advance within the University, especially within your department. As with most employers changes often are made from the top without truly considering the impact it will have on the staff actually performing the duty.

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your staff, seek input especially on major decisions that affect their day-to-day. They may be able to offer a perspective you did not consider. Make more opportunities for advancement available in order to retain good employees.

I worked at The Ohio State University (More than a year)

    Pros

flexible scheduling options, excellent training, excellent colleagues, great students, office hours at your convenience, good office space, free printing and copying under a certain page limit

    Cons

Some upper levels are very bureaucratic and unhelpful, health insurance plan isn't that great, you kind of jump right in in the beginning with little guidance and it can be a bit intimidating

    Advice to Management

More guidance and checking in with teachers in the beginning when they are inexperienced, better health insurance packages would be nice

I have been working at The Ohio State University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been impressed by the flexibility of my schedule during my three years at the university. Free tuition is also a benefit to employees (1/2 price for employees' children), which saves thousand of dollars.

    Cons

The bureaucracy can be difficult to navigate -- you can get things done if you find the right person, but finding that person isn't always easy.

    Pros

Worked as a student assistant. Great atmosphere with a relaxed environment.

    Cons

I worked as a work study student, therefore I did not have much chance for advancement in the company (which is normal for a work study job).

Persons here are nice, team work is good. pace is not fast. Employee can register classes in university. The children tuition is 50% off. Benefits and employer's retiring match are really good

    Cons

Introduction pace of new technology is slow. no bonus, no stock option.

    Advice to Management

sometimes opportunities are more, sometimes opportunities are less, it depends on whether higher management has enterprise architect involved.

I worked at The Ohio State University part-time

    Pros

Wonderful health insurance benefit for graduate students. I was in biological field, so the pay was higher than some other fields.

    Cons

Depending on the professor/instructor and type of course you teach, sometimes it requires more hours/efforts. My graduate program does not usually receive much research funding, hence most graduate students have to teach to support themselves throughout the majority of their graduate school career.
