I have been working at The Ohio State University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great facilities, lots going on on campus and surrounding area, very livable city. For the cost of living in Columbus, graduate stipend is very livable.

    Cons

Depending on advisor, may be required to work inordinate amounts of time, with little/ no support in performing research. Choice of advisor is *critical* to your quality of life/ time at OSU.

    Pros

Flexibility. Exciting culture to be a part of. Diverse population. The benefits are exceptional. Health, athletics, PTO among many others.

    Cons

Parking can be a nightmare. The cost of a parking permit is almost $800 per year. The salaries are no where near what you would earn at a private company. Room for advancement is not as great as it initially seems.

    Advice to Management

Be open, honest and forthcoming with new information that may have a direct or indirect effect on employees. A change in culture can cause dissatisfaction and a loss of productivity while open communication can help ease any worries.

    Cons

After Campus Park started to manage parking at The Ohio State University, the parking permit has been increasing every year. It is very expensive.
