    Pros

The suburbs surrounding Columbus OH are nice places to raise a family.
There may be other nice things to say about OSU but I don't remember them.

    Cons

Unless you are white and male you will not get promoted or receive raises on a regular basis. This is especially true for the Medical Center.
Postdocs, who are amongst the lowest paid employees, have to pay the same outrageous parking fee as a full professor who makes at least 5 times as much.
They tried to run the Medical Center like a corporation complete with outrageous pay packages for the top execs. Of course it didn't work!
Nepotism triumphs over competence any given day.

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on football and give some attention to actually educating students and to scientific research programs. You are a seat of higher learning, for crying out loud.

I have been working at The Ohio State University

    Pros

Better opportunity in moving forward in receiving additional Education and Degrees.

    Cons

Creating the right team. and coaching and managing people.

    Advice to Management

Communication is 100% key to your job, People are not projects, and if you focus on your team, the team will provide results. Better team, produces is a better product. I spend every day of my job trying to make myself obsolete by enabling the team and helping them grow.

    Pros

None. Very little positive about working here.

    Cons

Insultingly low pay. Distrust among employees. Very political environment. University that does not exist to actually educate people but just to enrich its top 1%.

    Advice to Management

Remember that you exist to serve students and the greater good--not to grow rich off student loan money. You will eventually lose this university.

    Pros

Programs are incredible and truly do make an impact to those in the communities.

    Cons

Administration doesn't always think about the people out in the counties (who are also part of OSU) before making decisions for the entire college.

    Work/Family balance is not easy

    Advice to Management

Sometimes top down is not always the best way to make decisions.

    Pros

Excellent benefits. Line-level employees start off with very generous pay. Scheduling is mostly very flexible, and it's a great community to be a part of. Job security is very good.

    Cons

Management does not start off with great pay. You will be hard-pressed to find more out-of-touch people than college professors. However, the staff is generally good people.
