    Comfortable and friendly working environment

Lecturer (Current Employee) Petaling Jaya (Malaysia)

ProsHave opportunity to grow in the company.
    Good working environment.
    Promising yearly increment.

ConsSome workflow from managements side not so efficient.
Lecturer need to stay in office while they have no class.
    No dentist allowance benefit
No good water filter in lecturer department (The water quality is so poor that everyone bring their own water from home)
Toilet flush always damage and should have dual water flush to save water.

Advice to Senior ManagementA lot of students and lecturer have a same vision that they need an individual campus which can link all the department and major together, because of current structure, it lack of communication in between students and lecturers from different background. It was bad cause education field need to share each others, learn each others, know each others well.

Giving full time lecturer free to do their own research and development while they are not in class, some higher management maybe will think of this is just "Curi Tulang" but it is good and applicable for those responsible lecturer.

Like sometimes I need out of campus sit in nice environment coffee shop to write own story and script, plan some proposal, develop new idea and assignment for the course, research in bookstore, visit shop to understand the latest gear, or do some assignment samples etc. That is more convenient and better to do these things out of office.

May be we should have something like "The One Shop", it is like a restaurant and coffee or tea shop, so it provides a platform for students and lecturer to hang out as well.

    Lecturer

Lecturer (Former Employee) Petaling Jaya (Malaysia)

ProsGreat team mates, easy going nature of the organisation, very little politics allows changes and development to couse structure

ConsMany levels of red tape even for a simple task to a point it can be worst than a goverment office. Very evident for request and requirement from the IT and Operations. Very traditional in many ways.

Advice to Senior ManagementSend your senior management staff for leadership training.

    Working Culture and Management

Lecturer Cum Graphic Designer (Current Employee) Petaling Jaya (Malaysia)

ProsStable increment and incentive yearly if performance meet basic or above requirement.
Friendly and relax environment. Good colleagues. Self-disciplinary and self-motivated time management and work space, as long as finish your job within the timeframe. Can expose to various cutting media and knowledge as we're in education and media line. Management will sponsor training if it is benefited to company and course development. Can learn a lot. It is interesting to relate with students.

ConsOffice hour is 9-530pm for administrative staff. 9-6pm for teaching staff. Teaching hour and non-teaching hour, you still need to stay in office. Unlike some university/college, lecturers can go off in non-teaching hour. Teaching staff need to do a lot of administrative work and course development too.

Advice to Senior ManagementMove to a bigger and self-owned gated and guarded campus. Dedicate a team to do course development and course related administrative work. Improve on computer system in administration related work. Eg: Digital students attendance marking.

A challenging job in a messy environment

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe One Academy offers higher salary, conducts a lot of training for the staffs and students alike, with bi-annual company trips and bonuses.

ConsManagement in The One Academy is haphazard at best, with most works done at the eleventh hour and a lot of unnecessary paperwork and red tapes for such a small company.

Advice to Senior ManagementCut down on process, and hire competent managerial staffs and do a yearly review of all the staffs, especially of those who are leading a team.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
