I have been working at The Ravens Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I've been with the company for over 6 years, and have been treated as not only a respected employee, but also like part of a family. The company works with you as an individual, is flexible with scheduling, and listens to ideas for improvement.

    Cons

Due to the fact that The Ravens Group are primarily federal contractors, they are at the mercy of the whims of the government and this can sometimes have an impact on company operations.

    Pros

Provided clerical assistance, including manuscript preparation, letters, forms and travel information. Took incoming calls, logged and either directed the calls to the appropriate party or took messages.

    Cons

I was told the benefits did not exceed the cost to obtain their services

    Advice to Management

Respect between employees and employers are key to making a successful business

    Pros

They will pay you on time*

    Cons

From day one the group was deceived on leave and time policies. For a company that pays as little as they do (taking almost 45% overhead) and earn even less leave, One would hope that you could make up time due to federal weather shutdowns the company would be a little more flexible. The veiled threats and group punishments from HR by signing additional policies that have been added to the employee handbook makes one think that you are employed by the military. Contract managers were fired and the only way the employees knew who their new supervisor was, was through second hand information and a random email weeks later by the incoming manager. An organization that is ran by retired military personnel would make one think that this company probably takes care of their reservist personnel. But you would be wrong on that account as well. The little amount of vacation and sick time that is earned doesn't count when you're at training or other functions. In fact an on site supervisor was complaining that the company couldn't charge for time that the employee was activated for duty and that the company wouldn't compensate pay. You can tell that the organization is only going to provide enough to collect money from the federal government and not be concerned about the contract receiving employment beyond the original contract. I feel that when the Ret. General, that is the CEO, learns to: stop being a General, and can learn that he and his employees are civilians, hire a consultant to aide in running the organization as a civilian entity, treat highly educated personnel as professionals, and pay according to the area that the contract is in. maybe this company will still be in business one year from this review

    Cons

Little advacenent in promotion, do not leave to Government job promotion, little or no yearly cost of living/pay raise, some unprofessional Project Managers at the headquarter/office who call employee home telephone to talk to a person in a degrading and screaming unprofessiinal communication style. Unacceptable and rude.

    Advice to Management

Hire Professional Project Managers who can communicate in a calm and proactive tone of voice when they are interact with empolyees.

I worked at The Ravens Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company to work for! I feel I can talk to my point of contacts one-on-one without feeling uncomfortable. They are understanding and really work with each employee to make them feel like a part of the family. Great with keeping us informed of any changes in payroll and benefits.

    Cons

I had a disappointing experience working with one of their clients through a government contract with another agency. Before I work directly with The Ravens Group, would like to have the same kind of interaction with just one company not a joint company.

    Advice to Management

Please do not do any contracting business with The National Cancer Institute. If you send any potential job candidates there, it will be a disappointing experience for both job applicant and The Ravens Group.

    Pros

This small business will provide a broad range of contracts to work on of many different types exposing you to unique challenges.

    Cons

A company culture dominated by an overbearing, Johnny-come-lately, retired three star general that can't see beyond his ego to trust his staff to do their job and bring new ideas to the company to spur growth.

    Advice to Management

Stop stifling the workforce and undermining mid-level management.
