    Pros

It's a fun place to work if you like selling shoes. It's a great job to take if you are going to school and need some spending money.

    Cons

Management is poorly (read: not) trained and there is a lot of turnover because of it. The store is very slow and it can really get to you. Pay isn't great and there is a lot of miscommunication between management and upper management. It took me six weeks for them to stop charging me for healthcare that I already have. No one in upper management takes any responsibility and that trickles down to the sales associates.

They also will pull from adidas applicants and send you to Rockport.

    Advice to Management

Get your act together and at least pretend you care. Getting emails saying stuff like "Hey guys lets keep those sales up YAY!" when you (the sales associate) don't get bonuses or anything and the people sending the emails do is grating.

  3. Helpful (1)

Lazy, unambitious company with no vision or loyalty for its employees.

I have been working at The Rockport Company

    Pros

Good pay compared to similar jobs in the industry.

    Cons

Lack of growth opportunity within company, horrible execution of simple infrastructure logistics (transfers/shipment), no vision for future, lazy production of products.
No loyalty to its employees, worked for one of the most profitable stores, found out from landlord that store was shutting down. Did not offer any other job opportunities or any significant severance for any of the staff. Did not address it personally at all.

    Advice to Management

Decide where you want the company to go, maybe have corporate actually follow through with marketing or the visuals they want in stores rather than essentially making store employees carry out these tasks.
Don't discard your employees after they were one of the few positive stores in the country and try to hide it for as long as you could. We need to find jobs, if we didn't find out through the landlord, the FedEx guy even knew before us, when would they have told us?

    Pros

working closely with coworkers and interacting with the customers was a pleasure.

    Cons

Upper management without prior notice, informed all employees that the store's lease would not be renewed. This was after being hired just 2 months prior. Left a really bad taste. Wouldn't have taken the job if I new this was coming.

    Advice to Management

should be up front and honest with their staff.

    Pros

The HQ is located in Reebok World HQ so being able to use the Reebok facilities is fantastic.
The benefits are great, 100% education reimbursement for qualified programs.
We are owned by the adidas-Group so we are able to leverage their technologies in our products.
Work with great people who are very knowledgeable about the footwear industry.

    Cons

We are a smaller brand compared to our sister companies so sometimes at the large all company meetings with the adidas-Group we can kind of get "lost in the shuffle".
There has been a decent amount of turnover lately which makes doing your job difficult at times.
