Fraud does not pay

DC Manager (Former Employee)
Saint Louis, MO

I worked at The SCOOTER Store full-time for more than 8 years

ProsYou used to make good money because the company was ripping off Medicare for millions. They kept telling you that you were the best and were always doing the right thing even when the whole company wasn't.

ConsMedicare fraud, layoffs, furloughs, no pay, cheated us out of vacation time, forced us to ripoff Medicare, managers who were incompetent.

I Wish We Could Give Zero Stars

Physician Specialist (Former Employee)
New Braunfels, TX

I worked at The SCOOTER Store full-time for less than a year

ProsThere aren't any. This company is closed, due to financial mismanagement and greed by the owners.

The bait and switch they pulled with their "summer hirings" was unconscionable. Hire over 300 people, but then keep 3.

ConsThe company's "rah rah" was exciting. But was complete and total BS. The claims about being a billion dollar company are non existent.

The most unprofessional environment I have ever worked in.

AR Specialist III (Former Employee)
New Braunfels, TX

I worked at The SCOOTER Store full-time for more than 3 years

ProsThe only plus of working at The Scooter Store is the compensation.

ConsUneducated/ignorant management is rampant in this company. Upper management lined their pockets for years instead of investing in the infrastructure and future of the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementPromote people who actually earn it, have knowledge and have a college education.

Started excellent, turned sour after some odd leadership choices started & people w/poor leadership skills were promoted

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at The SCOOTER Store full-time for more than 8 years

ProsMedical, Dental, Health, Life Insurance, 401k, Personal Smartphone, Lunch Room: T.V.s, Couches, Game Stations, Some Advancement.

ConsThere has become a culture of fear- mostly of reprisal where employees feel they cannot bring issues to leadership. This was founded in reality as there were leaders that would discipline employees for their thoughts. If you went over their head (which Sr. Management encouraged) the vindictiveness was more severe. I personally had instances where my work was being celebrated, and then weeks to months later being told that same work was not that good and I needed to change. Towards the end it was even worse, being told within days about unsubstantiated and non-constructive critiques that had no real direction or help on how to change. Not just myself, but everyone experienced this and we never had clear direction; I went to the quality assurance team and would receive good feedback of my work- constructive and positive, which contradicted the leaderships' critiques. The company started letting talent go for odd reasons, then they sold off parts or markets and downsized, now they are focused on trying to cover all their business with fewer qualified workers. The turnover is high, though they fudge the numbers to make it look light. The resource planning started with good schedules that made sense and covered all their heavy workload times, but then they started tweaking to a point where they must changes schedules almost 3 to 4 times a year. There is more, but too specific and I might give myself away.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire back past leaders, talent that should never have been let go.
