I worked at The Scripps Research Institute full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

I was a postdoc at TSRI and I had an office view of the Pacific Ocean. My boss was great and so were the people in my lab. The people I met at TSRI were some of the most brightest people I've ever met.

    Cons

San Diego is an awful place to live if you are used to living and like living in a big city.

I worked at The Scripps Research Institute as an intern for more than a year

    Pros

While working at TSRI, I really enjoyed the flexible work schedule. You come in whenever you need to be, and basically get your stuff done. You're always surrounded by motivated team members that help you when youre in need. This is a great stepping stone in developing laboratory skills.

    Cons

Due to the nature of being a non-profit organization, salary is average to low paying. Also there is a lack of socialization between different labs, especially with other departments.

    Pros

World class research environment. World class postdocs and graduate students. Opportunity to make an impact.

    Cons

Experience as a research associate largely depends on the advisors. There are some advisors that are great mentors, others that exploit people in their labs by forcing long hours.

Scripps has incredible resources to aid you in your research. I got to work with medical professionals from across the country and receive their guidance. The labs here are equipped with everything you could ever imagine to help you test any sort of hypothesis.

    Cons

There was nothing to complain about here. Everybody is a hard worker than I have ever spoken to and they truly care about their work.

    Pros

This position was very useful to have alongside being a student, because they worked very well with scheduling, and were very thoughtful of what students have to go through.

    Cons

The management over projects sometimes was not very planned out. Certain projects would extend far past their deadlines due to mis-communications and under-interested employees
