I worked at The Select Group

    Pros

Loved the environment and the opportunity for growth. Really supportive team and all around great culture. Most importantly the CEO really cared about his employees.

    Cons

If you don't like to work hard and see downs in a job as failure then this isn't the position for you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management is doing a great job. Keep involving the employees no matter how big the company gets because employees want their voices heard.

I worked at The Select Group full-time

    Pros

If you are just coming out of college and don't know what you want to do with your life or need somewhere to start, The Select Group will give you a shot, as long as you understand that you are no more or less important than the person next to you, and that effort, business acumen, and results fall second to favoritism and who has more available time to go to happy hours

    Cons

If you have a personal life you wont be a fit because you are not expected to be home at a reasonable hour and working late is not appreciated, it is assumed.
You get brought in with the guarentee that you can go down "a sales path", but the reality is if they don't want you in sales they are willing to tell a 21-23 year old that they are not fit for sales because of the skills they posses less than a year out of college based solely on the fact that they do not fit a mold. Over 50 percent of the people recruiting or not recruiters by choice, although they will tell you that they are because they bought in.
The commission structure heavily favors sales with little regard to the recruiters who work just as hard, if not harder, to make placements. There are hundreds of companies in your area that will give you a much better structure out the gate.
Sales people act like they are better than recruiters, talk down to recruiters, and their time is not accounted for.
The company holds weekly meetings with "leadership" where they pull all of the promoted people out of the office and go into a private room 10 feet away from entry level people where they openly talk about them with little to no regard for professional ethics.
Unprofessional, high school related personalities in a company that reflects so with a very low average age.
Misleading for the sake of the people up top while people in the pit working day to day struggle to pay rent due to blanket compensation that does not remotely relate to the cost of living in given areas.
The culture and values suggested are not reciprocated in the day to day.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I wouldn't know what to say because no one in management has ever bothered to make themselves a valuable resource after the first 2 weeks of training.

I have been working at The Select Group full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company culture is great, they are supportive and really want you to succeed. Great ancillary benefits, stocked kitchen, amazing company parties, commission structure built in from day one. The people of the company are really cool, all good talkers and willing to help out. Overall it's a great experience, especially for someone right out of college. The growth potential within the company is immense, they are continuing to grow and more positions are being created every day. Within 2 years you can easily be making 80,000. Exposes you to an unbelievable industry (Information Technology).

    Cons

The money isn't great right off the bat, but it is livable. If you are realistic, it shouldn't be a surprise, it's entry level sales. Hours are long. Typically 50/week when all things considered. Very few cons overall. If you are a logical person and understand the cost-benefit analysis of what the position has to offer, there are virtually no Cons.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

you all do a pretty good job, transparency is key and you all do your best to be transparent. You're all supportive and want the company and the individuals within it to succeed.

I worked at The Select Group full-time

    Pros

Salary, benefits, 401k, bi-yearly sales conferences

    Cons

Commission is not what it's made out to be, they tell everyone they're going to get into sales which is the only really way to make money at TSG and then make capricious decisions based on looks and how well you can suck up to the respective sales manager. Not a lot of vacation days, micro managed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote based on revenue brought into the company not based on who's going to spend the most time with you at happy hour.

    Pros

TSG is more than a place to work, it is a family. There is a sense of camaraderie among the employees that I have never witnessed before in an office environment. If you work hard and have the right attitude, management and your co-workers will give you all the support and help you need to succeed. There is so much opportunity for growth for everyone who shares the passion of helping TSG make it to the top.

    Cons

The majority of our employees are Recruiters and Account Managers which is not necessarily a good fit for everyone.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make an effort to keep showing that you care about every individual employee, no matter how large the organization becomes.

I have been working at The Select Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

This isn't like your typical staffing firm, everyone likes working here and is happy! Also, we are in the beginning stages of so much growth and expansion to come so room for advancement is huge! Also, the management team is awesome and really cares about EACH employee which is rare.

    Cons

It is sales and sales isn't for everyone, so if you don't work hard and want to be in a slow-paced, steady job this isn't the company for you! we are very fast-paced and fun, and something is different every single day!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The management team is the best I've every worked for. Very much an open-door policy, you can come to them with anything with no fear. They do not manage out of fear, they manage by praise and reward!

I have been working at The Select Group full-time

    Pros

It's so nice to come to work everyday and know that you have the full support of your peers and management. It's an open door policy around here, which is really refreshing for someone coming from a really negative work place. Cattiness or gossip aren't put up with, and really aren't ever an issue. Everyone really does have a great amount of respect for each other, and it shows. I wish I would have found out about The Select Group a long time ago!!

    Cons

It's a sales environment, it isn't for everyone. Sometimes there are long days, and sometimes it can be a roller-coaster, but the team environment and support from management are there to help everyone succeed

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the great work!!! You really do care about this company, and it shows!!
