Fantastic company. High ethics. Great colleagues. Painful client - the US Government

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Alexandria, VA

ProsManagement values and trusts employees to "do the right thing" without resorting to policies and micro-management

ConsTrying to provide great service to the Federal Government and the taxpayers is tough with all the crazy rules, regulations and incredibly outdated acquisition processes.

Advice to Senior ManagementWould love to work with you again if the opportunity arises.

Supportive/Collaborative work environment with access to everyone

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsTauri employees tend to be extremely skilled at what they do, or motivated to learn a new skill. Program managers are easy to communicate with and the work is always interesting. There is A LOT of flexibility.

ConsHard times/uncertainty for everyone in the contracting business makes everyone a bit jittery from time to time. But Tauri is great about being transparent and straightforward with its employees.
Although being able to work from home is great, the fact that some key company members are never in the office...complicates things a bit on major projects. And the long hours that some put in while others leave for home at 5PM...might not seem fair to the rest.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep evolving and trying new approaches to business development, even if it means going back to the basics. And in the contracting world, experience is always a plus, but take care of your junior folks as they will always remember those that took care of them. Continue treating your junior folks as productive members of the company and begin working with them to develop a career plan within the company.

    Great company culture

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Alexandria, VA

ProsEveryone at Tauri is very collaborative and team-oriented. The culture was not at all hierarchical, and the partners were accessible. Initiative was welcomed and rewarded. If you see an opportunity, you can go after it. New hires are seen as an integral part of the team, and they expect you to contribute from the beginning.

ConsHaving government clients means you're often waiting around for the client agency to make decisions and react. Pace can be a bit slow.

Advice to Senior ManagementObtain some private sector clients to balance the pace of work and keep the work more interesting.

Most employee centric company I've ever encountered

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsTauri hires really bright people and trusts them to do what is best and right in each situation. Only legally required policies are written and adopted. Communications between owners and employees are open and honest.

ConsTauri's revenue comes from a small number of Federal Government contracts. Government processes and bureaucracy make it difficult for a company like Tauri to grow and thrive. Especially policies such as small business set asides that cause contracts to be arbitrarily split up across contracts resulting in non-optimal delivery teams and excess cost and decision delays.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep doing what is right for employees and tax payers and the Federal Employees that undestand their roles and effectively provide value toward delivering needed work. Continue to try to bring reason to the politically motivated and to those who drive down cost by making bad decisions that kill productivity.

A unique and wonderful place to productively work

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsFlat organization. Great benefits such as 100% vesting, both PPO and HSA health plans, comp time, realistic business development approach, good office environment.

ConsWay too many meetings forced by a minority of employees that like belabored discussion rather than decision and action.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork to keep the project organizations flat, like the company. Many ex-military employees have trouble understanding that a program composed of senior staff do not thrive with layers of fabricated hierarchy.
