I worked at The UPS Store as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

The people that you meet and your coworkers both make the job worthwhile. The work environment is good and supportive when things get busy.

    Cons

The pay is not as good as some may expect. It's just an average retail pay job. So if you put everything you have into it, you won't be paid as much as you should.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

All of the employees and the owner are very friendly. They encourage you to gain further education. Their customer service is outstanding.

    Cons

Sometimes it is very busy and very fast pace. I enjoy that but some may not.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think the management has a good system because they hire and train quality employees.

I have been working at The UPS Store full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Good relations with fellow workmates and supervisors. Company is committed to community service, which is important to me. Decent benefits and flexible work schedules.

    Cons

Limited opportunity for lateral movement and even less for upward. Playing field is not always fair, but this is true in most companies. Salary increases moving much slower than cost of living, although this has improved a bit lately

I worked at The UPS Store full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I was able to balance going to school and working to pay for it. My manager was flexible with my fluctuating schedule at times. The Hours and schedule were very steady and I learned how to work quickly and efficently while building other skills that I still utilize today. We recived small bonuses for generating large revenues. Lunch when we did over a $1000 on a Sunday and commissions.

    Cons

The owner of my franchise had some of the longest hours I' ve seen any UPS store owner have opening at 8:00am and closing at 9PM some locations and we were open Sundays. ALso when it got busy for the Christmas season, we could have used more employees which we didn't get. Also, for the amount of work the UPS Stores do in NY, I felt we should be paid more. Also, although we are a franchise they should offer some bonus to employees of franchises..Tuition reimbursement something.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should offer discounts for opening franchises to employees of franchises and UPS Store corporate employees.
