Pros
Usually the latest technology and systems for the project.
Cons
A lot more money is spent on equipment and projects and software, but a lot less on the people who put it all together.
Advice to Senior Management
Increase the pay and bonuses to the employees. Reward them and they shall become even more usefull. Most do the minimum plus, and then leave it at that. More money, Higher morale.
Pros
Vanguard is the number one in the mutual fund industry and their dedication to their clients is unparalleled. Honestly, I am impressed with the commitment to stand by clients. I'm proud to say that I'm a crew member of Vanguard.
Cons
Slow moving; political; can be perceived as outdated; 'niceness' is overplayed; lack of offices throughout the U.S.; base salary is lower than some competitors (overall compensation is competitive)
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize talent within the company. I've been pretty lucky in my career with Vanguard but I see unrecognized talent every day.
Pros
Good benefits, Good co workers, big campus, gym and dry cleaning on site
Cons
Low end of salary compared to competitors, Slow growth, micromanagement, Connected to the headset, raises were hard to come by.
Advice to Senior Management
Offer more respect to your lower level employees, nicer bonuses or salary, mentoring system
Pros
good benefits, good interview process, fun work environment
Cons
bad pay, annoying coworkers sometimes
Advice to Senior Management
bad pay
Pros
No layoffs in company histiry
Cons
No credit for working overtime
Advice to Senior Management
Recognize the sacrifices the crew is making these days
Pros
Very stable, good benefits and compensation package
Cons
Conservative means stable, yet slow at adapting new technologies.
Advice to Senior Management
The company is top heavy.
Pros
Benefits are still good, but have been declining. It's a better place to start your career right out of school as opposed to being mid career and moving there.
Cons
Most of the company has moved towards a call center type. Promotions seem to go to the person who has been around the longest, not the most qualified.
Advice to Senior Management
You are a low cost mutual fund company, don't make lame attempts to compete with the big boys in the areas of wealth management and financial planning unless you are going to put considerable assets behind the effort. I've seen multiple failed attempts here.
Pros
Big company, interesting six sigma approaches to be implemented, ok salary, many young people, not far from the Philadelphia metro area
Cons
Salary can always be better, strict corporate culture, especially in the head quarter location in malvern. not the best benefits
Advice to Senior Management
I understand that the corporate culture is conservative, but some changes may be needed to accomodate all those young people employed.
Pros
The management team is very open to constant inprovement ideas and for allocating time to perform a comprehensive analysis to discover if the idea is profitable.
Cons
There is limited opportunities to opportunities for career growth. As you can read in other reviews, the compensation lacks that of the competitors.
Advice to Senior Management
Making the termination process more expedient would be welcomed by employees if the compensation of the remaining employees were adequately compensation.
Pros
The company has a good benefits package including a good 401K plan with generous company contributions, 20 days of PTO and an option to buy 5 more.
Cons
The downside is that the pay is lower than the average in the industry. The job is positioned in a call center so you vacation will depend on availability and call volumes. You have to follow a scheduling system that allows no flexibility.
Advice to Senior Management
The leadership seems to be in two groups. Those that are awesome leaders that help encourage you to be your best, and are competent in what they do. The other is leaders that have no understanding on the core concepts of the position of the individuals that they supervise.
