    Great Culture, fast expansion

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe company focuses on hiring really good people, and are growing quite a bit which is creating lots of opportunities.

ConsHiring can be a bit chaotic because of their growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to promote from within. You're doing a great job.

    Good, but not for me

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

    Pros- Free food during shifts
    - A positive environment, friendly co-workers
    - Good for food service experience
    - Training is provided
    - Flexible shifts
    - Get to learn about vegan food

    Cons- Not enough hours
    - Lots of mix-ups regarding scheduling
    - Worked there for years and not one raise.
    - More criticism rather than positive remarks (from management and corporate)
I left the company because of poor hours, low pay (besides tips), and thankless management.

Advice to Senior ManagementGive raises to employees that deserve it. Thank your employees more often instead of looking at them as machines or burdens. Progressive criticism works better than pointing out flaws. Don't be so uptight when the word "vegetarian" or "vegan" slips out of someone's mouth. It's vegan food- that's a fact.

    Good Food

    Cashier/Expo/Runner (Former Employee)
    Encino, CA

ProsFood and temporary. Food is good and of course healthy. They will train you once and you will be given a look everytime you ask a question.

ConsYou will hardly be explained your work or hands on training. and surely will have everyone as a boss who has been working before you.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop Micro Managing.

It was ok, but not spectacular.

    Team Member (Former Employee)
    Irvine, CA

ProsGreat food, great atmosphere! Free meal with every shift.

ConsShifts are too short for the amount of work expected, and there are not enough locations. Pay also isn't spectacular, but then again, this is a minimum wage kind of job. Management also doesn't treat employees fairly.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen more locations in northern California and perhaps other states!

Good first experience working at a restaurant.

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsFriendly employees and you get a free, delicious meal every shift.

ConsTips are very minimal because of the nature of the resturant.

Amazing Food! Amazing Staff! Hours are terrible

    Cashier (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsFree meal with every shift, friendly supportive co-workers. Excellent training provided for new store opening.

ConsHours... it all comes down to hours. I am not expecting to start a family as a cashier here. However how is anyone supposed to afford the cost of a monthly bus pass, gas or other essential items from a 2 hour shift? You will get sent home early after a lunch rush, I was once sent home after only working 1.5 hours!

Also as a cashier I would have liked more cross training on other areas such as expo and running.

Advice to Senior ManagementIts not the employee's fault if no one comes in for food after a lunch rush. Our schedule is written to give us a 4 o 5 hour shift.

Not a very good place to work

    Cashier (Current Employee)

    Pros-Great food
    -Tips are nice
-Co-workers are cool to work with (most of them)
    -Free meal with every shift

Cons-Get scheduled 2 hours per shift because "not enough revenue"
-Expected to do 10 things at once, while also ringing up guests, and checking up on them, all in a 2 hour shift. And then hassled to finish so you can clock out because got forbid you work a few extra minutes.
-No parking close by, got a $58 ticket.
-Being told conflicting things by management/shift leads

Advice to Senior ManagementWorry more about how you treat your employees and less about checking up on people avery 5 minutes while they are trying to enjoy their food and have conversations with their party.

Rapid Expansion, Yet No Opportunity For Promotion Within Organization

    Manager (Current Employee)

ProsYou can get eat for free each day that you work. You can bring in your friends and family for 30% off when you're not working.

All full time employees are eligible for paid medical insurance at the yearly open enrollment.

ConsEven though the CEO has a plan to expand to 80 locations in the next 5 years, the opportunities for promotion within the company are limited. They are very particular about the type of employee that they want, and try to "push people out" of the company as much as possible-- it is even discussed on the monthly call regarding staffing plans!

The compensation is on the very low end of the scale for comparable jobs. The benefits are really lacking. There is no 401k.

All of the people that work at corporate are from Taco Bell. They run the company like it's a publicly traded commodity.

Advice to Senior ManagementCompensate your employees appropriately. Promote from within the company instead of hiring external candidates. Treat your employees for their VALUE, instead of seeing them as a COST.
