I have been working at The Veggie Grill part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Free employee shift meals, up to $12 worth of food per shift. Tips range from $20-$30 a shift, and this is on top of your minimum wage salary. Employees also get unlimited drinks during their shift. Most managers are very flexible with hours, several people I work with have 2 jobs or go to school as well. The work environment is great, all co workers are generally very nice and enjoyable people to work with.

    Cons

White shirts for sure, just because they are so hard to keep clean, even with bleaching each wash. Only shift leads get benefits, as you must work 30 hours+ to receive them. Typical shifts for cashiers/bussers are either 11am-4pm, 12-5pm, 5pm-10pm, or 6pm-11pm. (Which isn't a con, as those are only 5 hours shifts, so nothing incredibly grueling). I've been there for almost a year and a half, and haven't once received a review or raise, but you have to ask for it I guess.

I worked at The Veggie Grill

    Pros

The company focuses on hiring really good people, and are growing quite a bit which is creating lots of opportunities.

    Cons

Hiring can be a bit chaotic because of their growth.

I worked at The Veggie Grill part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    - Free food during shifts
    - A positive environment, friendly co-workers
    - Good for food service experience
    - Training is provided
    - Flexible shifts
    - Get to learn about vegan food

    Cons

    - Not enough hours
    - Lots of mix-ups regarding scheduling
    - Worked there for years and not one raise.
    - More criticism rather than positive remarks (from management and corporate)
I left the company because of poor hours, low pay (besides tips), and thankless management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give raises to employees that deserve it. Thank your employees more often instead of looking at them as machines or burdens. Progressive criticism works better than pointing out flaws. Don't be so uptight when the word "vegetarian" or "vegan" slips out of someone's mouth. It's vegan food- that's a fact.

    Pros

Food and temporary. Food is good and of course healthy. They will train you once and you will be given a look everytime you ask a question.

    Cons

You will hardly be explained your work or hands on training. and surely will have everyone as a boss who has been working before you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Stop Micro Managing.

    Pros

Great food, great atmosphere! Free meal with every shift.

    Cons

Shifts are too short for the amount of work expected, and there are not enough locations. Pay also isn't spectacular, but then again, this is a minimum wage kind of job. Management also doesn't treat employees fairly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Open more locations in northern California and perhaps other states!

I worked at The Veggie Grill

    Pros

Friendly employees and you get a free, delicious meal every shift.

    Cons

Tips are very minimal because of the nature of the resturant.

I have been working at The Veggie Grill part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Free meal with every shift, friendly supportive co-workers. Excellent training provided for new store opening.

    Cons

Hours... it all comes down to hours. I am not expecting to start a family as a cashier here. However how is anyone supposed to afford the cost of a monthly bus pass, gas or other essential items from a 2 hour shift? You will get sent home early after a lunch rush, I was once sent home after only working 1.5 hours!

Also as a cashier I would have liked more cross training on other areas such as expo and running.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Its not the employee's fault if no one comes in for food after a lunch rush. Our schedule is written to give us a 4 o 5 hour shift.

I have been working at The Veggie Grill part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    -Great food
    -Tips are nice
-Co-workers are cool to work with (most of them)
    -Free meal with every shift

    Cons

-Get scheduled 2 hours per shift because "not enough revenue"
-Expected to do 10 things at once, while also ringing up guests, and checking up on them, all in a 2 hour shift. And then hassled to finish so you can clock out because got forbid you work a few extra minutes.
-No parking close by, got a $58 ticket.
-Being told conflicting things by management/shift leads

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Worry more about how you treat your employees and less about checking up on people avery 5 minutes while they are trying to enjoy their food and have conversations with their party.
