    Pros

    small company size, benefits are good, can work very independently as a home-based CRA, good place to get your foot in the door as a CRA with only hospital/coordinator experience

    Cons

    Training for CRAs is poor; it is a figure it out and sick or swim environment. Absolutely no opportunities for growth as a CRA; they want to keep you as a CRA and have you do nothing else. They don't value CRA time or effort, this is not acknowledged in any way especially not financially. Time spent getting to/from airports, waiting for delayed flights, etc. is your own time and is not billable. Each department functions independently; there is no interaction even though everyone should be working together. Sometimes you are overloaded with work, sometimes you have nothing to do. Work tasks are just made up on the fly; no one is ever sure who is supposed to do what. Projects are managed poorly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Come up with a standardized model for CRA career development and give CRAs options to do other work if they want (project management, data management). This will help CRA retention.

    Pros

    Benefits were good, upgrades to support systems improved and pricing for clients are now more in tune with bigger CROs. I understand and finally Theradex have removed their open source crap and replaced with Oracle Clinical and JReview (supported with cloud services, about time, your hardware was a joke). This was proposed in 2010, but sadly ignored. So, they are improving, but need a good knowledgeable team to move them forward. I hear IT is now more of an IT group and not a study build team. Thank God.

    Cons

    People are knowledgeable, but overworked and under paid. Others that have been there over 10+ years have received 4% plus raises year after year as the norm and are paid way over what the market bears and they have become complacent.

    When poor sales occurred in people lost their jobs, benefits were reduced (except for single status) and pensions became a smaller percent of your salary. But upper management didn't share in that burden.

    Infrastructure and software applications were old. So old, that licenses expired, upgrades no longer available for old software. No backup recovery solution. Backups were on tape and stored in a bank. Disaster and Recovery site in PA room was flooded and recovery was impossible. If power goes out, you SOL. Critical systems were not accessible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Management needs to spend on technology to bring them at least in the 20th century. That was a joke, but sadly true.

    Pros

    Management willing to invest time and money where needed to make our tasks easier and more effective.
    Working in the Clinical Research/Oncology Industry is rewarding to me.
    The ability to work from home when needed.
    Summer Hours/Alternating Fridays off.
    Friendly atmosphere, great co-workers who are talented.
    Great Benefits. Health plan is great and there is a Pension plan

    Cons

    As previously stated, not much time for lunch.

    A managment team that is open to new ideas, and recognize the accomplishments of their employees.
    Great co-workers who support your efforts.
    Excellent work/life balance.
    Managers who are willing to work with you in times when you have an issue outside of work by affording you a work from home day when needed.
    Brilliant summer hours program allowing every other Friday off (a great perk)!

    Cons

    Hard to leave the office to get lunch. Management not always available when input is required.

    Pros

    Theradex is exactly what a small company should be. Senior management is very open to new ideas and adopting new technologies. The company culture is teamwork and no politics. There's lots of opportunities for learning and career growth. Employees have the opportunity to make a big impact, and achievements are recognized and rewarded. If you are smart and good at your job, you will be very happy here. Theradex is very selective about who they hire, which results in colleagues that are bright, motivated, and innovative.

    A great perk is summer hours. In June, July and August, we get every other Friday off if we make up the time the previous 2 weeks.

    Cons

    It's rare to have time to go out to lunch with colleagues.

    Committed & passionate people(excluding upper management)

    Cons

    Constant change of management and job titles; favoritism is blatantly exercised; overworked and under-paid employees, for every person that leaves the other employees have to take on that job; takes 5yrs to be vested ; no team work; hard to get personal time off; some managers don't take accountability of their job and prefer to deflect their projects; no team work; no job growth poor/no bonuses.

    More people will leave; company moral is low; help is needed in many areas.

    Pros

    - Training is not bad, but a lot to improve on. There is no formal GCP training required or provided.
    - Staff work very hard with a large workload, almost doormat for sponsors.
    - Staff (but funnily not senior management) have excellent academic qualifications.
    - The experience gained working here is very good as you end up having to do every aspect of clinical trials that is outside your job description.

    Cons

    - Senior management are out of touch with technology, salaries and work/life balance.
    - Senior management are quite happy to lose good staff as they have accepted that staff move on, so try nothing retain them. The turnaround is phenomenal for such a small company. If they considered offering career progression, they would have staff who stayed longer and were happier.
    - Salaries are outdated
    - Computer systems, laptops and phones are outdated
    - Expectation of staff to work long hours and travel at ridiculous times and weekends without getting time back or extra pay.
    - Senior management have shown unprofessional behaviour several times towards staff and sponsors. They enjoy gossiping about staff and sponsors.
    - Staff have similair roles and responsibilities as senior management despite it not being in their job description, having lower salaries and without the job title. Appreciation and acknowledgement is non-existant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    -have external training to know what its really like to manage staff and studies.
    - dont have one set of rules for senior management and another rule for the staff
    - try to retain your good staff instead of recruiting every 2 months.
    - reputation of theradex will only keep going down if the company continues they way it is
    - increased salaries, benefits, flexi time, working from home all need to be put into place so a work/life balance can be achieved.
