Pros
Benefits were not too bad. Work experience will carry you further than you expect once you are out.
Cons
The list is long and endless. Middle management was a joke. Some people were hired into positions that they were not qualified for.
Advancement is extended only to those who are "accomodating" and know people on the 4th floor.
Be very cautious of HR. They are not there to protect you. Even the 800# to report mis-doings didn't work.
Advice to Senior Management
Start actually demonstrating with actions that you care. If you really believe that you want to retain top talent- start to pay the industry average.
Please understand that you have middle management at corporate in Pgh that intimidating and threating your employees to preform. The day and age of using these tacktics as a management style are not only in poor choice but detrimental to the overall morale. The fact that upper management allows for the use of this management style makes them just as guilty for the lack of morale.
Start to practice what you preach in the 4 I's.
Pros
one manager is great .ok benefits,,some employees get a small raise,
Cons
the others dont care about employees, some people get away with anything but some get called to the office for any little thing,we get no gainshearing even if fisher profit margin is in the billions thy say we are not working hard enough
Advice to Senior Management
listen to the workers that make the money for fisher . and the high paying personel do a better job management
Pros
Interesting product lines
Promote from within
Strong market place presences
great benefits package
Cons
Needs to have more consistency across all divisions.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to work towards corporate vision
Pros
Exposure to limitless life sciences products. Very good teammate, most at least. Flexible work schedules, most times individuals manage their own users.
Cons
Where do i start. Firstly, training bonds are not to be enforced like d staffs are criminals! We need to be trained to support the products.. Its not a luxury!
Advice to Senior Management
Go down to the field and see what is exactly happening. Don't always assume the numbers you see reflects the actuality.
Pros
Growth from within is encouraged. Employees have the opportunity to work in different positions and for different businesses.
Cons
Poor IT infrastructure. Employees spend way to much time trying to gather meaningful data. 24/7 mentality at some locations by some managers. Many employees are under a great deal of stress to do too much with too few resources. This tends to lead to blunt, difficult interactions.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to invest in IT infrastructure. Conduct more 360 reviews with high level managers. Pay attention to soft skills - e.g. courtesy.
Understand the employees point of view. Someone on a manufacturing line who gets a 2% raise and is told to work harder is likely to be resentful that their standard of living is declining while the CEO's lifestyle is still in the stratosphere.
Pros
Awesome people to work with. Job isn't physically demanding. Class "A" production facility, meaning carpeted floors, bright place with windows, and being able to sit down and build stuff without being yelled at. You can listen to your personal mp3 players, or chat on the phone, or with other people as long as you're getting the job done!
Cons
Just the normal bickering between employees that you'll find anywhere.
You can work there for years as a temp before you actually get hired, if ever.
Advice to Senior Management
Great job management! Most of you guys are awesome and I can honestly say that I can't find anything bad to say about you guys. Sure you bite me in the butt sometimes, but that's only because its your job! Oh yeah, don't forget to hire those hard-working temps, you never know when they'll go to find another job!
Pros
Can do incompetent work and have no consequences
Cons
No accountability from anyone - when anything is done incorrectly, the corporate response is... "Well, they're very busy!"
Advice to Senior Management
Get rid of red tape to accomplish tasks, less administrative work, and make people accountable.
Pros
There's job stability as this company if you do your job and you're not stupid and you don't mess up. Management does treat employees with respect, which is a plus, but they just aren't involved with the work being done on the floor... and they get compensated well! It's ludicrous. Bottom employees work well, only a small margin though. Most are idiots.
Cons
Management often doesn't communicate well with the employees that are doing the real work and can make the important decisions; poor department communication; lazy employees that do not suffer any repercussions from management because management isn't involved; poor salaries.
Advice to Senior Management
Better communication and involvement is needed on management's part. Often it seems the lowest paid employees do the most work and are the most competent. Managers get to high levels purely based off of time spent with the company, not the ability to improve the company, generate revenue, build customers, or use cost-cutting methods. Extremely poor communication and a lack of involvement, absolutely no hands-on work done by the managers. Even poor e-mailing response I've experienced.
Pros
Flexible schedule.
Good training
Great People
Cons
Minimal opportunities that can stall career advancement
Advice to Senior Management
There has been work put forth to show what needs to be done to advance one's career, now there needs to be more follow up from management to show where an individual is regarding their promotional status.
Pros
So far, it does seem like they are listening to employees and that they are trying to keep the new hires happy.Good benefits.
Cons
Unsure about the overall company plans. There are layoffs and plant closures happening elsewhere. Not sure if they promote from within.
Advice to Senior Management
So far so good. We will see if they weed out any straglers. HR is leading the way for many of the new hires and that leaves the people who are on 2nd and 3rd shift without information outside of a one time meeting.
