Growing large company, great benefits, okay compensation

Technical Service Representative (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsI like my coworkers, opportunity for broad exposure, personal contributions are recognized.
Opportunities for horizontal and vertical growth.

    ConsCompensation does not grow significantly.

Advice to Senior ManagementAt this time, everything seems to be going well. The changes made prior to when I came aboard have equilibriated, and things look good for newer employees.

    HR Leadership team is poor

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsCEO is good and he can make a diffrence.

ConsNo accountability on Managemnt team for high turnover in their dept.

Advice to Senior ManagementPls. look at the high turnover rate and stop putting people on performance plan just so that you can get rid of them without any legal issues.

Company that does not care about there people

    Supervisor (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsNormally pretty steady with no layoff until last month.
They are preparing for a new building to be constructed in Fremont

ConsThey have not learned how to value their people. They have a really high turn over because there pay is low. They loose great people because they are too cheap to give them what they are worth.

Advice to Senior ManagementValue your people and pay then what they are worth. If you pay your people well they will be higher performers, more dedicated and happier employee. Too many people are looking or already have one foot out the door

Lab Technician (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

    Pros-known company in the industry
    -advancement opportunities
    -will train you

Cons-will only train you if you keep bugging them
-will really do stuff for you if you constantly keep bugging them (IT took about a month to set up an email )
-managers pay little attention to the work ethics of individuals and good work is rarely recognized by anyone above mid tier management

    No growth and bad pay..

Senior Associate (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsGood work life balance. You can take care of your family very well.
Managers and vps are generally nice..
    Good 401 k match,
    Good PTO.
    Immigrant friendly..

ConsBases and bonuses are really low in the bay area. Therm fisher does not care about the employee turn over rate at all. Most of people stay in this company for years just because they can not find another jobs. .the skills you learn from your position would not benefit much your next job-hunting.

Career development does not exist. Most employees here are extremely dissatisfied about their current status. Metric boards are totally wasting money and time. You can come if all you need is a paycheck..

Advice to Senior ManagementTreat your employees well.. Otherwise they will all leave when job market becomes better..

Working at Thermo Fisher is not for everyone

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

ProsNice view of the bay in Fremont. Free parking. Nice lobby. Free coffee, plastic spoons, forks, knives. Microwave ovens and refrigerators in the break room.

ConsLow pay and too much work. Too much focus on the bottom line. Career advancement is non- existent. Not people focused. High employee turnover. Employee benefits are better elsewhere. Senior management is clueless. Concentrating more on metrics than on employees. I feel like I'm just an entry in a spreadsheet.

Advice to Senior ManagementLearn how to run a company. Fremont is a nice place to work in and there are a lot of hard working people but you have to look at ALL aspects of the company, not just the $$$. Metrics only tell one side of the story. Listen to your employees. PPI and PMDs are a BIG waste of people's time.

work here if you like low pay and indecisive management

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Fremont, CA

Prosnice people, very family like. secure job (for the most part). 401k match = up to 6%. you can get your relatives to work here easily if you hold enough weight.

Consvery low pay, not competitive at all. very slow in promoting. not a great place to learn or advance.

Advice to Senior Managementcut loose uneeded management. 1 manager doesn't need to lead 5 people--consolidate and reward workers that actually work. workers don't need a baby sitter.
