I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific

    Pros

Good benefits, salary and earning potential. Ability to get exposure on many different projects and customers. Colleagues are typically very helpful and excellent at their jobs.

    Cons

Management disconnected from what really matters to get the job done; Although benefits are good - performance increases are horrible, despite outstanding company earnings growth. No effort made by management to keep employees connected or to feel like part of a team.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Involve your foot soldiers in the decisions that affect their day to day working conditions and processes - vs. mandating ridiculous processes that make things worse; Share the wealth - pay increases that are less than 1% are insulting, especially when you're being told you're doing an amazing job; Provide more clear avenues for upward career development.

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Plenty of growth opportunity for a self motivated employee. Ample recognition when you exceed expectation. Decent bonus and stock options available as you move up.

    Cons

Travel, can become too much in certain roles. Health insurance was not as good as I would have expected for a health care company. Not terrible just not the best I have had.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work. I am thankful for the opportunities that were given to me. Miss working here.

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Work is satisfying and challenging. Often get a chance to explore new and creative problem solving techniques.

    Cons

Lots and lots of politics. It more about how do I align with who is the company favorite than getting out good products that the customer will value. Too bad, it's a decent company to work for if you're in the right division.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make it less about who can I buy and more about developing company ideas

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, fairly flexible schedule, huge company with lots of connections around the world, reputable name in the industry.

    Cons

Terrible pay, very low morale in the department, metrics are unattainable, sales comp is constantly screwing inside sales department, commissions are ridiculously awful, a lot of "deal with it" and "it is what it is" comments from managers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let us work from home; lower the crazy metrics; pay us a competitive/LIVABLE salary and commission percentage for the millions of dollars we bring in (literally); get rid of commission deceleration ("you didn't meet that outrageously high goal, so we're penalizing you... but you're doing a great job, don't get discouraged!").

I have been working at Thermo Fisher Scientific full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Paid time off starts at 15 days in year 1 and 1 day is added each year up to 5 years and begins accruing again at other length of service milestones. PTO Buy is offered which gives employees the option to have up to 5 additional PTO days by reducing each paycheck by a small amount. Healthcare plan offerings vary but are affordable and overall good plans. 401K match is 6%.

    Cons

Salary is not very competitive and annual merit increases are minimal.
