    Pros

    Good benefits & work-life balance.

    Cons

No leadership, just managers driving their bonus' from a spreadsheet. Compensation is about 10% below market. Staffing is lean. Morale is poor.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach.

    Pros

Lovely work atmosphere, friendly and dedicated co-workers

    Cons

Large company with lots of red tape attached to every part of the job

    Advice to Management

Try removing some of the checks and balances in order to become a more nimble company

    Pros

-Fellow employees are great to work with. Many of them are positive, innovative, hard workers who truly wish to make a difference in the lives of others.
-Some of the best products in the industry.
    - Nice gym and cafeteria on campus.

    Cons

-Very low percentage of people gets promoted annually. Unless you’re very good at playing the game, do not expect to be recognized for your accomplishments.
    - Quality of benefits used to be great but has declined significantly over the years and even more so when Life Technologies was acquired by Thermo Fisher.
-Salary has never been competitive but better than average benefits used to make up for it.
-Unlike competitors who want to hold on to talent and weed out the low performers, Thermo Fisher does not always take appropriate action to ensure this is the case…and so the low performers remain and good people leave.
    -Low morale
-Work/life balance is non-existent due to reduction in staff even though business and workload continue to increase.

    Advice to Management

-To those who lead by intimidation, that may work in the short term but will have a negative impact in the long run.
-Take the time to understand the issues instead of blindly delegating.
-Recognize plus reward those who are dedicated and achieve results. There are too many competitors who will quickly and easily convince these valuable people to leave.

Work load expectations are way too high.

    Pros

The people are great go work with. That's mainly the best thing they have going for them.

    Cons

Pay is not great. You're treated like a number. Even though sales are great, pay remained very low. Getting anything changed takes a very long time or are told that they don't not have the resources to accomplish the specific task. Products in high backorder. Need more manpower.

    Advice to Management

Quit being called to so many meetings and work on bettering your staff

    Pros

There is a lot of communication between R&D teams, and a strong sense of collaboration. It's also a large company with many different areas of research, which is great if you want to be exposed to new areas of science.

    Cons

Some of the work is repetitive, and it is essential that it is so. Developing products for sale requires extensive testing, and troubleshooting. It's just something you have to learn to live with when you need multiple replicates of an experiment.

    Advice to Management

I wouldn't change anything. People are happy in general, and change for changes sake only adds to unease. It's great to be in a company that does such exciting and meaningful research.
