ProsThis is a place to "go through the motions." That's it.

ConsUpper level management is above and beyond arrogant, rude, and most notably: OUT OF TOUCH. Tremendous turnover rates and lack of communication are rampant. Every day at work is a day living in fear (you never know if you will have a job at the end of the day...it's seriously that bad). I wouldn't wish this glorified gig on my worst enemy...ever.

Advice to Senior ManagementRestructure all levels of upper management and get some people in here that can bring some serious revenue to the table. It's as if this company is "surviving" on a respirator and it's about to flatline if something doesn't happen soon.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsExciting market space - it is fun to speak to the world's largest brands and get involved with those brands at a strategic level

ConsStandard growth issues for a fast moving company. Some people may not like the "start-up" feel but I love it and can be part of helping to build the company!

Advice to Senior ManagementMore employee events - love the company get together - but we should have more!

ProsWorking with clients you learn to build trusting relationships with. Ability to grow and learn in the private community management space which is growing and thriving. A-list clients - look at their website... VERY good clients to work with.

ConsHigh turnover rate. Inability to maintain knowledge in community management due to said turnover rate. Poor executive management; you need to be in the selected few to gain favoritism. Difficult to receive support otherwise.

Advice to Senior ManagementPlease listen to your community managers. They work day-to-day with clients and the clients love them. Poor communication and favoritism leads to high turnover and low motivation

ProsThe company is a start-up in a fast growing and exciting industry. The work environment is pretty laid back for the most part and you have a fair amount of autonomy while working.

ConsThe management and executive leadership have no clue about how to run a company. Communication is weak and one executive will tell you something different from another one. There is no solid strategic direction and the leadership and executive teams are really just worried about their own jobs. The turnover rate as been super high here. I would say within the past 6 months nearly 50% of the team has resigned. There is no career development and no support. No bonuses and no rewards for hard work.

Advice to Senior ManagementWhen you take on the responsibility of being a leader and a manger it is necessary to first understand your team including their strengths and weaknesses. Don't just assume you know what's best; especially if you've never even worked in the industry before or have done this job. Talk and communicate with the team and give some rewards and bonuses from time to time for their hard work.

ProsExposure to social media space and some top US brands are the only benefits of working for this awful company.

ConsThe worst run company I ever worked for. Inept senior management, horrible communication all piled on top of a subpar technology, makes working for this place a nightmare for all involved. (Except the senior managers that are in cahoots)

Advice to Senior ManagementDo your customers a professional favor, sell your business to a company that will service them with the proper technologies and staff before you leave them high and dry.

Pros- Good concept
- Fortune 500 clients
- Smart co-workers, but most got out

Cons- Poor management
- Low salaries (except for the top dogs)
- Very political environment
- No work/life balance
- Favoritism is rampant
- High turn-over (see above for reasons)

Advice to Senior Management- Listen to your employees
- Talk to your clients every once and a while
- Stop making excuses
- You let 3 qualified VPs of CS go just to put a sales person in charge?

ProsFinally got some real interactive people who understand UI and web design. The people were pretty cool when i was there but there's a lot of new folks now so I can't vouch for them.

ConsBeware of the CS department. When the new CEO took over, there were 35 in the department. In the first 5 months the CS management didn't change and 5 people quit. In the next 6 months under a new VP of CS 15 people quit. Did anything other than management change? Yes, salaries actually went up across the board and 3 times as many people quit. Some didn't even have a new job, they just left. I heard they're hiring a bunch of new people so good luck to the newbies and candidates consider yourself warned.

Advice to Senior ManagementOpen your eyes and start looking into the real issue in CS. Numbers don't lie, but people sometimes do. Also, stop over-promising what you can do for clients and leaving the CS team to clean up the mess of broken promises.

ProsChance to work with Fortune 500 companies
Exciting, fast growing industry.
Incredibly bright, talented and passionate coworkers.
Laid back dress code.
Hires mid/lower level mgmt well.

ConsPosition descriptions inadvertently misleading due to lack of direction within the company. Client demands provide the only direction. They hire people to create and manage online communities, but you end up spending most of your time being a market research analyst.
"Never say no to a client" mentality, regardless if something can be done or not or if there is bandwidth to do it.
Despite heavy reporting demands, other than Excel, there is no reliable in-house software to analyze data.
Morale is terrible. I knew very few people who weren't actively looking for another job.
Client turnover is almost as bad as employee turnover.
Promises are made to employees and, even worse, clients, that can't be executed.

Advice to Senior ManagementManage workload to match the skills and interests of the employees you hired, even if it means saying no or taking something away from a client.
Have of clear vision of each job description. If the job is heavy market research, hire market research analysts. If the job is managing online communities, scale back on the reporting.
Stop making promises you can't keep. Employees and clients don't trust you anymore and need to "see it to believe it."
Hire someone in upper management who comes to the table with previous experience creating and managing online communities.

ProsReally smart group of individuals working here. Benefits package is decent. Learning opportunities within the industry are pretty good. Nice view from the office.

ConsManagement is incompetent, rude, and self-interested. It's like they have never run a business before. They really don't care about the employee welfare or culture here. There are also very long work hours, and its hard to balance your real life with work. All the really great people have since left and moved onto better positions. Not sure if this start-up will last past December.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet better managers to run this company, or step aside. Learn to treat your employees with more respect and actually find out their needs.
