I worked at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Opportunity to work with top notch individuals in the clinical setting. Tremendous amount of learning and experience gained while working there.

    Cons

Management states that their employees are there biggest asset yet they don't treat them that way.
Minimal pay increases and constant deductions in benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop micro management of staff with individuals that are incapable of performing the job in which they manage.

I worked at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very bright co-workers, hard working and dedicated staff, truly care for visitors, patients, and each other. A place of caring and empathy. Everyone working hard together to provide patients with the best care in the most comfortable environment. Good location, easy access to public transportation.

    Cons

Can be slow to change and adopt new processes. Feels like there was always some fad passing through...new way to analyze work processes and change them. Those fads didn't stick but many employees started to become wary of them and disengage before a project even began.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to engage low-level employees from all departments (clinical and non-clinical).

I worked at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital

    Pros

this job provided me the knowledge and experience to work almost anywhere

    Cons

VERY short staffed, unhappy environment, extremely unappreciated employees, high school atmosphere, money hungry management leaving equipment dated and embarassing

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

it says something that not a single co-worker of mine could say they liked their job. everyone felt overworked and un-appreciated. this job left me physically when I woke up in the morning, I was in terrible pain for the first few hours of the day. I would also need to sleep and lay in bed much more than any another time in my life. I would often have to work a 12 hour shift overnight (with no break) and come back in a few hours later. many of us would be awake for 3+ days and work 40-60 hours and still expected to perform perfectly. All while they would figure out how to not give you overtime. We would work very very hard every day and felt extremely under appreciated and often treated like a child. The main boss made it clear that pennies were more important than our health and well being. The best thing I ever did for myself and my family was leave this job. I finally feel healthy and happy am not in pain anymore. On the positive side, I have amazing experience and feel confident to work just about anywhere.

    Pros

Some people actually care. Doctors are saving grace! People who care aren't nurtured.

    Cons

Benefits are poor. Deductible are high. Lots of brown noses that will walk over their peers.

I have been working at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are awesome, independence in your position, talented and knowledgeable professionals providing top notch care

    Cons

Disorganized and inefficient systems - for example, the orientation I had to my specific position was pretty much non-existent. I figured it all out by myself through questions asked. Plus, the answers I got to my questions were different from each person I asked. Everyone is doing there own thing even when it comes to something that is concrete such as billing - poor multidisciplinary teamwork, billing people are incompetent

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go through each department and thoroughly review how their systems are working in order to more efficiently utilize resources and provide optimal care.
