    Pros

I would recommend T&B as an employer only as a stepping stone to a fulfilling career at an employer with corporate vision.

    Cons

The senior management team of T&B in Memphis promotes a corporate culture that is disingenuous and condescending. T&B does not create an environment where employees can flourish & be successful.

I worked at Thomas & Betts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Paid for most of my college. Do take advantage of that if you work there. Pay and benefits okay.

    Cons

Think: 3rd world sweatshop, dirty, backward culture, petty, and cutthroat.

    Advice to Management

Stricter recruiting policy, less favoritism, hire educated people for jobs in higher position

I have been working at Thomas & Betts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The amount of real-world problem solving experiences are countless. All of the people who work here are a great resource for one another, and there is an increasingly large amount of people with "open-door" policies. Safety is of the utmost importance, and there is a culture at T&B Albuquerque that should be adopted by all manufacturing plants across the U.S.A. Production and ownership of the market are also very alluring facets of this particular company and manufacturing plant.

    Cons

There are a lot fewer cons than there are pros for Thomas & Betts. One of its cons would most likely have to involve an established mentorship program for incoming employees and RCGs. Another facet that could use work would be the resources that are given to employees.

    Advice to Management

The slight change in meeting with manufacturing plants has become a very good culture for Thomas & Betts. Many times, senior management tends to come out of touch with the production at the ground-level. And, in order to help create long-lasting, meaningful solutions for the company, whether you're a hands-on or theoretical learner, you need to see and experience production for yourself.

    Pros

You can work all the overtime you want.

    Cons

Poor wages. Confusing culture. Crab barrel....no one wants you to get ahead. Many employees are part of the point out everyone's flaws so no one sees that they don't perform. Unfortunately, these individuals are rewarded because they are allowed to take up leader's time and tell on others to keep the heat off of themselves. Supervisors are ok and are nice people overall, but obviously not trained or empowered.

    Advice to Management

Upper Management should visit the night shifts and help spread the company culture. HR is woefully inadequate and cannot handle routine employee issues and have little understanding of how to align with management.

I have been working at Thomas & Betts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company car, Company Card, company cellphone.

    Cons

Deteriorating management, understaffed, inter office managerial power plays, poor scheduling, little regard to personal life, Training budget is constantly cut, the field is understaffed but management says there is no justification to add more personnel, cross country travel can be scheduled at the drop of a hat.

    Advice to Management

Either spend the money or reduce the commitments. Dispite haven been purchased by ABB, Thomas & Betts constantly bickers and finger points. Not to mention constantly undermines the other parts of the organization by constantly shifting expenses and losses around on the books to try and look as if they are doing better than they actually are. There are successful parts of the organization. However the Thomas & Betts core has become so used to the idea that they are successful that the concept of actually maintaining a well run business if foreign to them. Which results in them hacking away at anything golden they touch until it looks like the mangled and miss managed core that is Thomas & Betts.
