    Pros

Opportunities for training and learning experience, some hard working people, some good leaders/mentors, opportunities for those that want to work hard and are self motivated. Great place to start a career and build experience. Much like the saying, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger", you will either sink or swim at T&B.

    Cons

In the years leading up to the sell off to ABB, decisions were often penny wise and dollar foolish . There was a lack of long term vision and long term investments to do what was right for the business. Some of us were work horses who pulled the wagon, while others were show horses who asked why the wagon wasn't being pulled faster. Sadly those who were show horses were not dealt with, and brought down others who pulled the wagon relentlessly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The book "Good to Great" should be given to all upper management, as T&B is at best a "Good" company. Management should follow the steps in the book, the first of which is to get the wrong people off the bus, and get the right people on the bus. The work/life balance could use some improvement, which is linked directly to the people(management) who need to be taken off the bus. If the problems in management could be addressed, the company could have potential.

    Pros

Not many other than it's a job to get experience for your next job.

    Cons

Make you set goals, but even if you reach them, they only provide raises between 2-3.5%. Managers are not very proactive. They never offer any support during the year, but at review time, they let you know everything you did wrong to give you the lowest raise. They beat you down so much, you lose your incentive to go that extra mile.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Waste of breath to give them advise.

    Pros

I can not think of many Pros. The insurance is ok. The products are well known in the market place.

    Cons

This company doesn't know what direction it's going in. They were recently purchased by ABB so maybe their is hope for T&B. Extremely high pressure job. Never had enough employees in our department to cover the work load. No help or direction from management. Some of the managers have nothing to do so they will watch the people that are actually doing the work and try to nit pick and tattle to there managers if they take to long at lunch or on a break. The managers need to pitch in and help with the work loads. And stop staring out the window to see what others are doing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Learn from your mistakes. Listen to your customers they are usually correct and can tell you where you need improvement within the organization.

Current Employee - Mechanical Assembler  in  Hackettstown, NJ
Current Employee - Mechanical Assembler in Hackettstown, NJ

    Pros

benefits are better then most jobs, the work is full time, and people are mostly respected there. they will keep their current labor there unless the said employee is causing major problems.

    Cons

They don't consider any ideas unless they are cost free, they have no consideration for the personal needs of their employees unless it also benefits the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If someone comes up with an idea, instead of saying its yours, let them get the credit. Give people positive affirmation when they do something well. Actually consider what people have to say instead of dismissing it.

Former Employee - Plant Controller in Hager City, WI

    Pros

Highly structured environment with a solid roadmap to the future. Plenty of personal and professional growth opportunity in the form of additional training through seminars and on-site education. Very good compensation package if you are part of the management incentive program. Solid benefits including both a 401(k) and a retirement plan. Tremendous product knowledge at the operating facilities.

    Cons

Some ivory tower syndrome, i.e., "everybody at the corporate headquarters is more competent then employees in field locations". Few promotional opportunities in the field, must move to Memphis to move up. In some divisions senior management has little or no operational experience.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Institute a supervisor rating program.

    Pros

One can have enough freedom. the culture is good. the work load is not too heavy. One can definitely-easily manage. Five-day week with mandatory 40hrs per week.

    Cons

You don't get paid too heavy as in software companies. Its only a decent pay( not very bad).
