I worked at Thompson Hine full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Very competitive pay and benefits. Extremely professional work environment. Senior partners cultivate mentoring program for younger associates. There was opportunity and encouragement to participate in volunteer community activities.

    Cons

As with any large firm, there is pressure to comply with billable hour requirements. The particular practice group I was involved with, was considered a secondary practice area so was looked "down upon" a bit by managing partners.

I worked at Thompson Hine full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working there was a good learning experience. Staff was overall friendly. Pay was fair but billing hours were excessive.

    Cons

Attorney behavior was not regulated. While I was there, a partner hit an employee without any significant consequences. This was ccertainly not typical behavior but there were a couple of senior attorneys who were very unpleasant.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The corporate culture is out of step with the times.

I worked at Thompson Hine as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

There are none. The staff is always depressed. The atmosphere is always attending a funeral, and wondering if its yours,.

    Cons

Good Pay free lunch here and there

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

These are adult professionals, Treat them as such and not as if respect is not important. Stop covering the disrespect and prejudice.

    Pros

Smart colleagues, good leadership, great work environment

    Cons

Things are slow to change sometimes but that isn't always a bad thing. No real corporate ladder, per se, so advancement is limited.

I worked at Thompson Hine as an intern for less than a year

    Pros

The salary's competitive. The firm TRIES to give people a good work/life balance. People were reasonable, for the most part. The secretaries/paralegals are smart and well trained.

    Cons

Gossip, politics and a convoluted system for getting assignments. The hours are long, even though the firm tries hard to increase the quality of the lawyers' lives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    None.

    I worked at Thompson Hine

    Pros

If you do a good job, the partners will give you good work and support you.
If you want client contact, you can get it as a junior attorney.
Co-workers are really great and there's not a lot of cutthroat competition.

    Cons

Salaries and bonuses are less than at many competitors.
Not all offices are treated equally.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more forthcoming about long term plans.
