Pros
Nice company to work for. Friendly working atmosphere almost family like. Great training department.
Cons
Catastrophic change of CEO who was promoted from within. Have really missed the opportunity online. A few years ago were doing well and ahead of the competition in terms of the internet - now a long way behind. Rumour has it revenues are 50% down on what they were just two or three years back. A great shame as was a great company - I hope they turn it around.
Advice to Senior Management
Don't look for quick wins. Take a few risks to try and avoid a slow demise. Need to be more innovative.
Pros
Smaller company and able to make an impact. Opportunities in new media. Good recognition and booze ups (in sales)!!!!
Cons
Petticoat HR function with limited clout and obsession with technical/process. Too much spent on flowery stuff, not enough on core HR work and change management. Sales expensive - especially on renewals - need to focus on renewing without expensive calls.
Advice to Senior Management
Review HR team and get a more robust 'can do' manager in place? Go back to basics with sales and sack the consultants - they will bleed you dry. Review scope of some directories.
