    Pros

Flexibility. Challenging when it should be. It never gets boring. I enjoy the people I work with, and there are always interesting projects to work on.

    Cons

Management has high expectations. As they should, their expectations are reasonable. I do work a lot of overtime, but that is because I want to succeed.

I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time

    Pros

Many of the projects are high visibility for well known clients; good names and projects to have under your belt.

    Cons

Management does not manage the staff, projects or clients well. Staff is left wondering what they are supposed to be doing then to have last minute deadlines with uncertain direction. Working in this group is like working in a small shop with little hope for exposure to the wider firm or for growth.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get managers with professional project and people management skills. Discourage the silo mentality and encourage more collaboration. Look around at what other top-rated companies are doing to retain talented people.

I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Great portfolio of projects
Some really great gems of people are scattered throughout the company
    Good resources
Opportunities to transfer between offices & practice sectors (pending economy & availability)

    Cons

    Sink or swim mentality
Culture may not be for everyone
Work/life balance is often a struggle
Culture/values/outlook vary between local offices (could also be a pro)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remind Management as the company grows and becomes more and more "corporate" to not forget the "keep it real" values of the earlier years.

I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time

    Pros

Good people in a professional environment.

    Cons

No growth opportunities for support staff and lower pay than normal for what's asked of you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Put more emphasis on helping talented employees careers blossum.

I worked at Thornton Tomasetti full-time for less than a year

    Pros

There's a part of TT that I identify with: interesting projects, engaged and ambitious engineers, lots of young guys brimming with energy, senior folks that make themselves available, smart and kind project managers. For me, the number one attraction of TT was this culture of freely sharing the resources internally.

    Cons

Rushed submittals with only cursory checks. Poorly managed manpower, with over- and understaffed projects overseen by the same people at the same office. Poor feedback and little appreciation shown for your work. The idea is that your hourly wage can keep you at your desk for any length of time. High turnover that nobody takes cues from.

I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Projects are high profile, interesting. Get to work with the world's top architects. General feeling of pride about working here.

Seems that everyone who works here is smart, friendly, and involved in extra curriculars. (there's always a couple though...)

The company does a good job of fostering collaboration and inclusiveness across all levels and offices.

    Cons

Can be alot of work for less pay than other structural firms. But, they're designing parking garages in the suburbs, so... not too bad of a con.

Could get stuck working for one boss only

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I have been working at Thornton Tomasetti full-time for more than a year

    Pros

1.There is a lot of variety in projects (though limited to high rise structures and stadiums).
2.Hands-on experience on big projects and you get very responsible roles which make you feel important and not just a someone working in the background.
3.You get to learn and put to use a lot of softwares used in this field.

    Cons

1.No training given. You will have to learn as you proceed ahead. That becomes kind of hectic.
    2.Very poor compensations/bonuses.
3.They don't pay as much as they make you work. Coming on Saturdays and Sundays can become a routine later on when you reach a higher post.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very poor employee management. If you want your employees to stick around then please reward them appropriately for their work and don't just consider them cheap labour/resources. Don't try to make a person do the work of 2 people and pay him/her only for 1. Hire more or increase salary.
