Good place if you just want some basic experience, but not a good place to build your career

Senior Consultant (Former Employee)
New York, NY

I worked at ThruPoint as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsTalented and nice people to work with

ConsLack of leadership, lack of vision and direction. Infighting among upper management and detachment from the business core. There is LOTS of spin but no real results and clear vision for the direction of the company. Zero training and very limited opportunities for career advancement, very basic benefits and very average compensation.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more involved, look around and talk to your own employees

Thrupoint Inc...The Consultant Experience...

Consultant (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at ThruPoint full-time for more than a year

ProsPleasant people to work with.

ConsNo professional development. No foresight with regard to retaining talent and opening up further opportunity for engagement. Sadly, no matter the pretense they're just another bodyshop.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou could be much more of a boutique provider of talent if you more firmly entrenched yourselves in alignment with your clients, realizing, expecting and predicting their needs. You need to shift from the reactive to the proactive.

Given mandate without appropriate support, therefore unsatisfactory

Defense Sales Director (Former Employee)
McLean, VA

I worked at ThruPoint

ProsConsultants and project directors are extremely knowledgeable and proficient.

ConsExecutive management provided no support to achieve defined objectives. Couldn't develop networking consulting business for defense customers without Facility Clearance. Despite sponsorship, execs never bothered due diligence.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop flying around to London and UAE and concentrate on core business.

A lot of positive changes over the last year! Seems like the CEO is cleaning house.

Project Manager (Current Employee)
New York, NY

I have been working at ThruPoint

ProsFast paced atmosphere with a take no prisoners attitude throughout. The company has an amazing customer base. The type of projects gives you exposure and experience to projects you would never have the ability to work on otherwise. The changes in the company over the last year and a half have been great, like all the new and highly experienced management team additions have helped a lot. Also, the new product strategy is great. I just wish there were more opportunities for us legacy to transition over to it faster.

ConsLook at my Pros... Its a double edge sword. This is not a company for the weak of heart. You need to prove yourself every day. If you are looking for a relaxing job, this is not for you. They are very competitive, so be prepared for long hours and being asked to commit to the success of the company. They reward those who perform and the ones that do not do not hang around long. You are responsible for your own success at Thrupoint. Do not expect one atta-boy to get you anyplace. You need to show you are a consistent at bat hitter. Repeated success on projects gets you the promotions.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more in front of the strategy. Its cool to see the great things happening, but it would be even more awesome if we knew in advance so we could be better prepared.

Very respectable and professional

Network Consultant (Former Employee)
Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

I worked at ThruPoint as a contractor for more than 3 years

ProsFriendly environment
Effective leadership
You get exactly what you were promised

ConsNot much room for bonuses and salary increase as it is tied up to the current project income.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep up the good management to consultant relationship. They are your biggest assets.
