I worked at ThruPoint as a contractor

    Pros

Provide all things needs to get the job done, regardless of what tech might be needed. Management was also easy to get in touch with.

    Cons

Compensation was not what I was hoping for. Unreasonable with scheduling deadlines at times. Team structures can be murky and confusing.

I worked at ThruPoint as a contractor (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Talented and nice people to work with

    Cons

Lack of leadership, lack of vision and direction. Infighting among upper management and detachment from the business core. There is LOTS of spin but no real results and clear vision for the direction of the company. Zero training and very limited opportunities for career advancement, very basic benefits and very average compensation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more involved, look around and talk to your own employees

    Pros

    Pleasant people to work with.

    Cons

No professional development. No foresight with regard to retaining talent and opening up further opportunity for engagement. Sadly, no matter the pretense they're just another bodyshop.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You could be much more of a boutique provider of talent if you more firmly entrenched yourselves in alignment with your clients, realizing, expecting and predicting their needs. You need to shift from the reactive to the proactive.

    I worked at ThruPoint

    Pros

Consultants and project directors are extremely knowledgeable and proficient.

    Cons

Executive management provided no support to achieve defined objectives. Couldn't develop networking consulting business for defense customers without Facility Clearance. Despite sponsorship, execs never bothered due diligence.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop flying around to London and UAE and concentrate on core business.

I have been working at ThruPoint

    Pros

Fast paced atmosphere with a take no prisoners attitude throughout. The company has an amazing customer base. The type of projects gives you exposure and experience to projects you would never have the ability to work on otherwise. The changes in the company over the last year and a half have been great, like all the new and highly experienced management team additions have helped a lot. Also, the new product strategy is great. I just wish there were more opportunities for us legacy to transition over to it faster.

    Cons

Look at my Pros... Its a double edge sword. This is not a company for the weak of heart. You need to prove yourself every day. If you are looking for a relaxing job, this is not for you. They are very competitive, so be prepared for long hours and being asked to commit to the success of the company. They reward those who perform and the ones that do not do not hang around long. You are responsible for your own success at Thrupoint. Do not expect one atta-boy to get you anyplace. You need to show you are a consistent at bat hitter. Repeated success on projects gets you the promotions.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more in front of the strategy. Its cool to see the great things happening, but it would be even more awesome if we knew in advance so we could be better prepared.
