I worked at Tiburon, Inc. full-time

    Pros

Local management is good, they try to make the work environment rewarding with flexible hours. Employee contributions are valued and they attempt to implement them.

    Cons

Senior management in CA does not make the satellite locations feel like they are part of the company. They respond to questions coldly and make it an us/them atmosphere. The investment company that owns them calls all the shots, are only concerned with the bottom line and force layoffs whenever the profits do not meet their margins irregardless of the employee performance, which has been happening since they acquired Tiburon. They are not concerned with whether Tiburon is doing well or not, only with their stockholders. Tiburon is not given the resources to succeed, as the Gores Group just wants to squeeze blood out of stone. In addition, the sales people need to be better trained to sell technology products....law enforcement background is not enough.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Find a way to divest the company from the investment company that currently owns it and invest in resources to propel the company forward in the public safety industry. Hire sales people who are knowledgeable in both IT and law enforcement and who are real salespeople. Look at the long range outlook and stop concentrating on short term profit.

I have been working at Tiburon, Inc. full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Really None unless working for cluless managers is good for you.

    Cons

Management has no SW development or support experience, if these managers go out in the field to look for a job they wont even get a interview. They have no idea as to what they are doing besides keeping the upper mgmt happy. Ever changing enviroment where no one gives a crap about you as an individual.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please hire people who have worked in SW development or have some idea of what the technology is, rather than people who come from police background. This is a SW develpoment company not a police station.

    Pros

Employees at the working level are hard working, dedicated and professional. The products have great potential to lead the industry.

    Cons

Disconnect at the executive level. Employee base has no respect for executive management. Employees are constantly put in a reactive mode due to lack of planning and management support.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on product quality and customer satisfaction. Follow through with the promises you make to your clients. Listen to your employees, the people that actually do the work!

I have been working at Tiburon, Inc.

    Pros

Tiburon does very important software - that for the emergency services.

    Cons

It's recent set of VPs have do not brought either public safety experience or software product experience to the table. They do not know how to deal with noisey customers, organize the products, run projects to completion. There is also a cultural rift within the company of old versus new crew.

I have been working at Tiburon, Inc.

    Pros

Most of the employees were smart and industry professionals. Those from the previous company which was purchased and renamed Tiburon carry a chip on their shoulders as the "Originals" which creates a wedge between anyone new coming in.

    Cons

Their main goal is to get the company ready for sale and turn a profit. There are some smart people at the top, but not interested in growing the business or helping the customers, just turning a buck which is fine, but be honest about it. Employees are ignored, given unreasonable work schedules and scapegoats in many situations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take better care of your employees.
