Pros
good environment, challenging, work\personal balance. Fair workload, very easy to communicate with team members and build reasonable expectations. Good coworkers - most people here really pull their weight. Everyone supports the broader team - even senior management is very approachable and team-oriented. Open culture, lots of sharing of ideas and efforts. Nice office, nice support for commuting.
Cons
lots of change, sometimes too much, and it seems sometimes we have overlapping product lines. But that is software dev..if you don't like it, find another industry.
Sometimes it seems like we have mixed goals - beat the competition vs. placate some customers.
Advice to Senior Management
be more aggressive - we should make our brand stand out above StubHub etc and publish all the innovations we make that benefits the public. Its no fun to be hated.
Pros
The family friendly atmosphere is very nice. I definitely feel that the company respects the fact that I'm a person with a life outside of work, and that my family is my #1 priority.
Cons
It often feels like upper management doesn't listen to us cogs. They have their priorities, and that's fine, but there are thousands of people who know the inner workings of the company exceedingly well, and it feels like we are ignored, or rather not considered.
How many million dollar ideas are sitting in the heads of all those techies, marketing folks, and sales people? But they aren't in product - or aren't sufficiently senior - so their ideas don't go anywhere.
Advice to Senior Management
Advertise. Tell Ticketmaster's story. The #1 complaint I hear form people is how high our fees are. We need to tell the public what those fees buy them. It's my belief that people don't mind paying for something of value. But since we don't tell our story, all they see is they are paying for something they don't have a clue about.
Pros
Flexible Work Schedule
Good People
Great Opportunities
Fun Employee Activities
Relaxed Atmosphere / Corporate Culture
Good Vacation Benefits, though it can be hard to find time to use them
Cons
There is a lot of paperwork that helps upper management do their job, but disrupts the workflow of those below them.
There can be extremely long working hours.
Workers rarely receive any meaningful recognition, and it is hard to be sure how good of a job you are doing.
The general consensus is that nearly every worker makes less than they would doing the same job for a different company.
Roles, procedures, and responsibilities are not clearly defined.
Advice to Senior Management
Standardize training. Make sure every positions job responsibilities are clearly defined. Be willing to pay those that earn it more so that you can keep them.
Pros
great people, whatever it takes to get it done culture, it's live entertainment after all.
Cons
long hours, below market pay, pressure of serving both clients and consumers at same time (middleman business)
Advice to Senior Management
keep fighting hard and stay focused. make sure the team has the tools to get the job done and has the right incentives to be motivated. keep investing in technology and keep client service levels high.
Pros
challenging problems to solve. interesting industry to be part of. small, nimble teams
Cons
old school culture sometimes too slow. Compensation not up to par with industry.
Advice to Senior Management
empower your employees. push and challenge teams to innovate.
Pros
As a major company, Ticketmaster has a small company feel in regards to how co-workers treat each other and react to each other in and out of the office, but the pace and effort of the business is continually moving forward making each day exciting.
Cons
The downsides are understanding all that Ticketmaster does, either behind the scenes or customer facing.
Advice to Senior Management
Keep our morale high in these tough times.
Pros
Opportunity - Ticketmaster is a company where you have no limit as to how far you can grow within the company. If you're hungry and motivated, the opportunity is there. Even Sean had a non-traditional path to arrive to arrive at this role and that's not uncommon within the company.
Cons
Ticketmaster has grown substantially over the past several year - global footprint, lines of business and strategy, etc - and hasn't yet worked out how best way to communicate the direction clearly to the employees around the world so they understand how they fit in the "big picture". The evolution from a N American company to a true, or at least hybrid, global company will take some time.
Advice to Senior Management
Continue to trust your people. Ticketmaster has a lot of talent at the 2nd and 3rd tier of leadership. The more senior leadership can keep them dialed into strategy and direction and leverage their experience and ideas the better it will be positioned as it continues to transform itself.
Pros
The company has very challenging and interesting technical problems. There are lots of really good people who are fun to work with. Being part of live entertainment is a lot of fun, and depending on your role you sometimes get a chance to help out with big events. If you are part of the technical part of the business, many many consumers will use your work on a daily basis.
Cons
The pressure can be very high. Everything has to work perfectly and when there is a problem the impact can be huge. Ticketmaster is busiest during the weekends and sometimes it is difficult to plan around this fact. A lot of people misunderstand what Ticketmaster does. They blame you for things that are out of your control and don't give you credit for doing a good job.
Advice to Senior Management
Work on consistency across the organization
Pros
free tickets occasionally, good people. A good team
Cons
Pay, Pay Pay. These people pay worse than Mcdonalds
Advice to Senior Management
Cut your pay, so the people at the bottom or even the middle can afford to live.
Pros
easy job and good benefits. nice co-workers that really care. some supervisor that care once they get over having the big head
Cons
cant buy tickets .promotion is who you know not what you know. some supervisors need to get over it and remember where they came from. we need more incentives and better training
Advice to Senior Management
talk to the "little people" more we make you the money
