Former Intern - Legal Intern in New York, NY

I worked at Time as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I loved the people, the perks, the location, and the name. The attorneys there are amazing, especially the person who runs the intern program. You’ll learn a lot from her, legal and otherwise.

    Cons

As a legal intern, I was a little jealous of the magazine employees who dressed cute and trendy. I was miserable in my business clothes in the hot summer and intolerable subway stations.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They seem to have it together!

I worked at Time as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

I was a part of the Summer 2014 Internship Program. The program was well-designed and provided many opportunities to become involved with the company. The full-time employees were very welcoming and always willing to share their knowledge.

    Cons

I could tell from my work that communication between departments is often lacking. The particular department I was working for hired me without necessarily having a specific job in mind for my skill set.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Improve communication between departments.

I have been working at Time full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Depending on your brand, you end up working with some of the smartest and grounded group of people in publishing. Its a real drama-free environment. There are a lot of inspirational leaders. I love seeing the women in Power. I wish there were more, but there women that are there are dynamic.

    Cons

About half the company aren't digital natives. Its holding the company behind in some respects. The sales people need to learn digital more at all brands. They can't speak to the offerings that they have.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get digitally savvy! Make it a priority. Partner with IAB. Get a rich media agency in-house. There's so much potential but the dinosaurs are holding the company back.

I have been working at Time full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

I am constantly challenged, every day is different depending on the news and current stories, they have a great employee wellness and benefits package, and decent vacation package.

    Cons

The employees on the editorial level are underpaid for the highly valuable knowledge they bring, and unparalleled work ethic. I think that is partly a symptom of the publishing industry in general.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I think it would be beneficial to offer higher salaries, and give more flexibility with time off and offering work-from-home days.
