Pros
Professional work environment, well respected company, competitive pay structure, nice equipment, break rooms, hardworking employees, great benefits, typical of most major corporations.
Cons
The over use of speadsheets and metrics disable the management from using human interaction with employees to put in place a feedback system to improve processes. Everything is by the numbers and ignores the human side of the employee.
Advice to Senior Management
Remember; the people are the company, they are not just numbers on a spreadsheet. The equipment is useless without the people to run it. Use metrics for no more than 50% of managing, use more people skills and value the human element.
Pros
Great people - nice, mostly smart, hard working.
Very interesting work - trying to evolve how media is consumed.
Cons
Company does not seem focused or concerned with developing and growing its employees.
Advice to Senior Management
More crystal clear prioritization and focus.
Pros
Free cable, internet, discounted phone / pay per view
medical/dental/vision high coverage at low cost to employees
401k match & pension
quarterly bonuses
independence
good business plan
good incentives for employees to be active in the success of the company and the community.
Cons
seems that communication about new products and services is a little bit lacking as to how they function within our system. they explain it well customer side just not from the inside.
Low starting pay compared to our competitors.
Advice to Senior Management
keep up the good work and keep taking care of your employees they can make or break you. we are the face of the company.
Pros
Not many, free cable and internet service.
Cons
Extremely stressful environment. Way to many sales reps working in territories that could do without two thirds of sales reps. Quotas astronomical and unattainable for 95% of AE's.
Advice to Senior Management
Managment isn't as much as the problem as the Executives and board members making decisions that look good on paper but make no sense in reality.
Pros
the discount on cable, intertnet services
Cons
I worked there for about a yr and that was way too long for me!Beingon the phones was beyond abusive! almost every call i took i was screamed at and called every name in the book! I was stuck on nights eventhough was promised days. if you want different hrs you have to wait to bid on a shift. I bid on 12 shifts while i was there and was denied all and was told "we dont have enough people to cover the nights you will just have to wait for a new class to come out" the "free services" they tell you about when they recruit you really arent free at all yes you get a discount but they push all these new boxes and programs onto you and want you to have everything but they charge you for them. I saved about 40.00/month compared to new customers wanting the triple play! they dont tell you in training you have to make a certain amount of sales per month and you get scored on everything (how long your on a call which should be 3minutes or less, how long in between call which needs to be less than 30 secs how many calls an hr which should be atleast 30 etc) and when applying for a different position or different shift they base thier decsions off that and who has been there longer. the supervisors arent much help at all they never take calls so they dont know what kinds of calls we took. the leaders or help line was a hit or miss with any help. there isnt much opportunities to move up unless you want to go do installs or go out of state. they put a lot of pressure on sales. there isnt any pay raises unless you go out into the field or out of state and the pay is horrible id make more at a fast food place! the sales payouts are way too low. they ding you if you miss a day or are 1minute late even in a blizzard or hurricane they expect you to be there and if you feel its too dangerous to go they still take points away. the supervisors have way too much paperwork to do to really be able to interact with the employees. as soon as you leave the company they jack your services up to full price and wont let you get any specials for a certain time frame.
Advice to Senior Management
there needs to be better incentives for employees and make it more about customer service not about rushing through calls. offer better opportunities for advancement or different shifts. increase the pay and actually listen to the customers and employees. Have continueous training to actually be able to help customers not just pass them on to someone else. give customers an incentive to stay with twc and not go to other companies. people shouldnt have to threaten to go somewhere else to lower thier bill!
Pros
Get to work with technology
Cons
management, HR, and anyone is charge lack the common sense to make smart business moves.
Pros
Free Cable, Free Internet, Discounted phone service. Regular paycheck. Not alone- everyone receives the same poor treatment, unless you are from the Carolinas Region...
Cons
No ethics and no one to help. No work life balance. No recognition for a job well done. HR will not help a "lowly employee."
Advice to Senior Management
Try practicing your mission and values. It's no wonder the Telcoms are beating Time Warner Cable. You employees are abused, just like your customers.
Pros
Good work life balance
Free Cable Service
Good Benefits
Cons
Little to no training
No promotion within
No career path
You can wear many hats and not be promoted
Top Heavy
Re-Org every couple of months to a year
Salary in not competitive for NYC
No stability
No constructive feedback
HR practices are horrible
Senority is not respected
Advice to Senior Management
Practice what you preach. Prove you are growing your employees. Do something for your loyal customers instead of just worrying on acquiring new ones.
Pros
adequate benefits
great place for underachievers
nepotism lives
it's not what you know, it's who you ...
reasonable cafeteria
free parking
easy access from 315
would be a great place to start a real company
Cons
total lack of leadership at all levels (RVP, VP, Director)
HR is a joke
IT is more of a joke
unethical behavior is tolerated
old-boy network of old cable-dogs
no focus on quality of services
long range planning is thinking one quarter ahead
short-term focus ensures TWC will remain in business only beacuse of the market barriers-to-entry
Advice to Senior Management
Start with ethics. Add some good business knowledge. Think beyond a 90-day horizon. Respect and trust your employees. Get rid of the old cable dogs. Eliminate about forty percent of the VP and Director positions - TWC has more VPs than a bank!
Pros
-good working/life balance
- free cable and internet
- good benefits package
Cons
Things change all the time. CONSTANTLY. The training is horrendous and you get not support from supervisors.
