Pros
The benefits are great. It was so great when I started. The people were friendly. That is longer an issue. They are so concerned with reorganization that the are forgetting the employees.
Cons
No communication with employees. Employees are treated as a number now. They have taken all the compassion, fun and family atmosphere and thrown it straight out the window. The Time Warner/AOL debacle was just the beginning of the end of a great company to work for. It had so much promise. And it's all gone.
Advice to Senior Management
Go back to how you started before the whole AOL debacle. Employees have taken a backseat. No one cares about the employee anymore.
Pros
Good benefits, free cable, free parking
Cons
To get something done..you had better document everything..excuses from management at all levels, no follow through. Staying quiet and below radar is the status quo..definitely favorites in management. Unprofessionalism accepted as.the norm..."because that it just the way that person is". Hard to believe from such a large employer...
Advice to Senior Management
Don't play favorites, don't push your beliefs on others, like religion..inappropriate.
Pros
very good benefits and some exceptional front line employees
Cons
competition is making management crazy and the department silos make getting everyday work done almost impossible. sharing information or ideas is non existent
Advice to Senior Management
it time for horizontal sharing not vertical kingdom building
Pros
The benefits are awesome. Video at a discount, HSD free, and phone at a discount. Medical, Vision, & Dental at great rates to the employee.
Cons
Office politics are the worse. Gossip from co-workers. Management tries to nip it in the bud, but they can't stop all of it.
Pros
If you are aggressive and take the time to find leads and speak to as many people as possible then this is a great part time job that could even lead to growth within the company in the future although do not count on it.
Cons
You will only work weekends, and more often than not you are by yourself which can make passing the time very boring. If a problem comes up that you do not know the answer to then it was sometimes very hard to quickly get in contact with management.
Near the end of my stay with the company it seemed like every weekend they made it harder to make a sale. Whether it was outsourcing our call center or lowering our commissions I found little to no motivation to do a good job.
Advice to Senior Management
Take your sales staff more seriously and live up to the title sales "coach". Also it really takes a lot of the motivation away when you lower commissions and increase sales quotas at the same time.
Pros
Benefits are fantastic
Free Cable
Company vehicle for field techs
good tuition reimbursement, as long as its work related
Struggled to find PRO's
Cons
Management has zero regard for their employees
Management feels that work should come before anything, including family
Management constantly adding tasks and workload to insure that they get their bonuses, which only they get. Hourly employees do not get bonuses.
No opportunity for advancement since restructuring of the Region
Advice to Senior Management
Management should listen to what their employees are saying. We actually do the work so I think we know the best methods to get the job done.
Working every weekend get old very fast.
Make every employee in a supervisory or management position take business management courses. If that was mandated, they would have an idea of how to run a business and treat employees.
The executive level of management does a good job but they need to do some house cleaning in the lower levels of management
Pros
Free cable/hsd&dhp (which is set to change November 2011)
easy job
good benefits/perks
Cons
TWC (things will change) DAILY!
all the managers in the call center care about is themselves&their paychecks. When I first started, June 2010, it was strickly customer service, handle customer concerns, FF to a year later &they have made every dept the same. I.e (Technical support detp, customer svc detp, retention dept,) are now all INBOUND SALES, went from having to sale 1 svc a day to having at leas 6% of daily calls being sales. In the past year we have accured over 200,000 new customers in my division, yet we havent hired any new Reps. The communication amongst the entire comany is as poor as it gets. 50% of he calls I rcv on a daily basis are irate customers bc we have either Taken money from them/over charged them/ wont fix their svc, or are waitng weeks to fix customers svc, the problems are Majority of the time TWCs fault. The svc SUCKS!! making all this money but not putting it to use in creating better svc for the customers so they wont have to suffer. can we say FIBER OPTICS?? I can go on and on about working for this company ..Ill stop here
Advice to Senior Management
GLEN BRITT, YOU NEED TO GO TO THE CALL CENTERS/DISPATCH STATIONS&SEE JUST HOW ALL OF THESE "MANAGERS" &"SUPERVISORS" WORK
Pros
Benefits, and the people. Time Warner Cable look to move forward and take good steps to define their business properly.
Cons
Rigid structures impede at times. While progress is always difficult in a larger company, there are ways to guide professional atmosphere to allow growth as a quality of business.
Pros
-Good health insurance
-free cable
-company vehicle to drive home
-Working with different customers daily keeps things different
Cons
-They do not care about customer or employee concerns, they ONLY care about statistics and profit. As a field tech you will be required to meet a scorecard that designed to show either good quality work or good quantity, they expect you to have both, you can't have quality and quantity. The scorecards have things that technicians cannot control at all.
-We are forced to use old beat up boxes in homes and expected to climb the pole even if you have just a remote control problem.
-Being on call will force you to work 70 plus hours in one week.
-Low compensation for the work that is done and we are pushed to sell products to customers while on a call fixing their already broken service.
-The newest policy to save money takes away the tools and equipment needed to fix services, techs are expected to fix services without essential hardware
Advice to Senior Management
Drop the scorecards, what you are asking is impossible. The technician cannot work out of a tackle box, this was a horrible idea to save money and is killing productivity getting it replaced every 3 days. Employees are not happy with this company and plenty of customers are not either, please listen to both, if things continue I don't see this company being around in 10 years.
Pros
Vacation time, benefits, branding, colleagues
Cons
Management with less education than the employees they lead.
Advice to Senior Management
Place people in positions who are compassionate to the people they lead. Require all managers and directors to hold some form of degree. It's discouraging to see leadership not being able to list some form of education
