Former Employee - Inbound Sales Representative in Raleigh, NC

I worked at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    -Meet some great people
    -Make some good money
-Low cost cable TV and internet (used to be free but no longer is)
    -Excellent Health Insurance

    Cons

    -Extreme Micromanagement
-Managerial laziness, incompetence, dishonesty, apathy and arrogance
-Employees on the phones are regarded as expendable peons
    -VERY high turnover rate
-You WILL either quit due to burn out or be fired
-Most incoming callers aren't calling for sales-related reasons
    -Different answers from different managers
-"Things will change" is an excuse for disorganization and ineptitude
-DRACONIAN attendance policy, you are penalized for being ill
    -Inhuman treatment of employees
-Payout of commissions isn't accurate, and you must "dispute" sales that get stolen by others
-No time clocks, you are only paid once you log-in to the phone system, so you are cheated out of easily 10-15 minutes a day of your time.

I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

great benefits, aggressive pay, great perks, free cable. lots of paid time off, easy to accrue paid sick time. as well as many different, flexible schedules are available.

    Cons

sometimes as a tech its very hard to get lunch breaks, as well as you some times have to hold your bath room breaks for nearly an entire work day. it can be very nerve racking if you get to homes late, even if this is completely out of you control.

Current Employee - Direct Sales Representative in Raleigh, NC

I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The benefits are good and you can earn a steady check but be prepared to use your own car and gas.

    Cons

Poor management. They do not encourage but rather use negative reinforcement. You are on call via email and phone constantly (7 days a week and holidays/all hours). There is no job security because the more you do, the more you must continue to do and the shelf life of success is measured in seconds.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try and embrace the good, hard working employees that work with the public each day. They are the face of Time Warner and they care. Customer retention should be addressed as well. The public and employees are tired of hearing ..."only available for new....".

Current Employee - Sales Support Specialist in Raleigh, NC

I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Good benefits, flexible schedule (if not on the phones)

    Cons

Having to work holidays, limited career advancement, pay doesn't match job titles unless in management, inconsistent scheduling.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let employees have rotating weekends. If an agent has to work on weekends, it should be maybe 1-2 weekends a month. Holiday schedule (customer service dept.) doesn't allow any planning in advance. If you're going to make the employees work on holidays, then you should too. Schedules should last more than 3-4 months at a time to allow enjoyment of family, friends, personal time, and advanced planning.

Threats, No support, Never good enough

Current Employee - Inbound Sales Representative in Raleigh, NC

I have been working at Time Warner Cable

    Pros

    Great insurance and friendly coworkers.

    Cons

Hours, no matter how good you do it's never good enough, constantly being threatenned by management, "occurrences" no difference between being 2 hours late and 1 minute late. If you try to come in and work when not feeling well but have to leave before 2 hours before the end of your shift you are penalized as if you didn't come at all. They focus way more on THEIR assigned sales process than an agents results as a sales person.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your employees, support them without threatening and celebrate successes
