I worked at Time Warner Cable

    Pros

There are a lot of good people that work at Time Warner Cable, Great Benefits, and the culture is professional.

    Cons

There is a lack of an enterprise-wide formal program development life cycle which impacts the overall strategic direction

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Run the company more like a Telco vs. a cable company as Telco's are much more evolved.

I worked at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent benefits
    Vacation/Sick pay
    Full time hours

Fun place to work if you like hustling. Coworkers are friendly.

    Cons

Commission is hard to get...you could be 1% off and that can make the difference between 100 commission and 1000 commission.

    Sales goals are unreasonable.
    Management is horrible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get on the phones at least 1 a week and you will realize what you write on paper and what is really happening on the phones do not add up.

I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

There is some good money to be made here. Interaction with the customers is rewarding and I enjoy providing excellent service and changing their opinion, just a bit, of Time Warner Cable. Benefits are pretty good.

    Cons

Never worked for a company where management was so dysfunctional. They are more concerned with politics than supporting their team. Very little respect for the people who actually generate revenue for the company. If you have ever worked in professional sales you will hate this job.

Most of the problem stems from the fact that sales management consists of former door-to-door salespeople who were very good at what they did, high pressure fast close sales. Promoted to management, they are like fish out of water. So, they come up with all sorts of goofy ideas to make it look like they are actually doing something. Meanwhile, their people in the field are hurting for support. There is no employee development here; you either make it on your own or you are done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You wouldn't listen anyway, I have already tried.

I have been working at Time Warner Cable full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The Benefits are great! For the most part the salary is average to good. The hours are reasonable for a service oriented company....tech ops

    Cons

If you are not a customer oriented person, this job is not for you. Salary could be better. The big company "across the board" approach does not work well in individualized parts of the country. Different people respond differently to the same ideas.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the manager/supervisor level more control of their areas.

I worked at Time Warner Cable full-time (less than a year)

    Pros

Complimentary Coffee, Tea And Hot Chocolate, Free Parking, Gym Access And On Site Cafeteria, At Least At The Mira Mesa (San Diego) Call Center. Co-Workers (Rank And File ANYWAY) Were Supportive.

    Cons

Ten weeks of strict, sometimes grueling training all for a shameful 12.00 an hour? The CSP job has you taking call after non-stop call, all day long, from upset customers. Come on TWC, offer your employees a respectable hourly rate (15.00 at least) to do this type of work. The commission/bonus structure is based on performance and sales (you know how that goes) and the trainers were never quite clear on how all that really worked. Also during training, I got a little tired of a middle management member always walking in and scolding the entire class for alleged misbehavior around the office. Totally disruptive and a morale sinker for sure. After a while I started to think…what kind of people have they hired here??

    Pros

Co-workers and the overall work environment.

    Cons

They tell you they promote from within but they rarely do. Once you get a position at this company you're pretty much going to stay there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more from within the company and treat all team members the same not just the management favorites.
