I worked at Timken as an intern (less than a year)

    Pros

Loved the atmosphere and all the seminars they had for us. Really treated college students as an equal. Took us to an Indians game and did community service but made it a good time. Didn't have to run and get coffee. Valuable work experience.

    Cons

Sometimes, didn't have enough work to do. Need to trust interns a little more with workload and allow us to show our full potential.

I have been working at Timken full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Competitive pay and benefits. Challenging work. Opportunities to "make a difference". Very strong core values of ethics and integrity, quality, innovation, and independence.

    Cons

Very demanding work pace. Tend to not replace attrition, and expect others to "pick up the slack". Tend to over-react to business cycles with excessive hiring in good times, then layoffs in down markets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Consider expanding work-life balance policies.

I worked at Timken full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent people. Management tries very hard.

    Cons

Devolving. Some plants are using machines so old (WWII) that they can no longer be repaired because there are no parts. Failure to keep assets upgraded and invest in infrastructure. Pay has stagnated, benefits, once excellent, have become mediocre in the last 4 years. No true investment in the future, simply the now. Very high stress, very demanding. Sink or swim culture. Too many lay offs. No longer viewed as the prime employer/partner once so highly regarded.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go back to the Company's roots.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
