It was a good place to learn

Applications Developer (Former Employee) Richmond, VA

ProsIt's a great place for someone young to learn and get exposed to different and cutting edge technologies.
There is an opportunity to do a variety of work and on different projects. The managers also offer flexibility on the work.

ConsThe morale was low, not compensated well for the work, there is favoritism

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's a great place to start but not to grow

    Poorly managed, low company morale.

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Richmond, VA

    ProsA lot of nice co-workers

ConsUpper management - especially the top 4 "executive committee" members - hoard the profits while handing out very meager raises and year end bonuses. They ask a lot of their employees and don't ask much of themselves. They speak a lot about company culture - they talk the talk, but those four guys definitely do not walk the walk.

Advice to Senior ManagementIt's time for some of the younger principals to sweep out the old guard, if only they had the courage to do so.

ConsToo much changes /hesitation in management

Great company for land development and GIS...but...

Project Manager (Current Employee) Richmond, VA

ProsGreat if you work in the field of land development or GIS comfortable work environment, friendly management

ConsToo many disciplines (which is fine if you're into one of the few championed there), groups work like mini-companies (rather than "company as whole")

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Gained much needed experience, but was always a job and never a career.

Project Engineer (Former Employee) Richmond, VA

ProsLearn CADD software and critical design skills. Potential to work on a variety of projects, depending what group you work in. Competitive paid time off and flexibility to take vacation. Try their hardest to stay up with new and innovative design.

ConsWhile management staff are intelligent engineers, they lack actual management skills. There seems to be limited opportunities for advancement, especially for women. They keep restructuring but have not found a successful combination yet. Expected to work overtime but not get paid for overtime. Have been in a salary freeze for the last 2-3 years, unless you work in the technology group which seems unbalanced. Upper management seems secretive unless you happen to be one of their favorites. Overall, a lot of drama to deal with, most likely from the fact that they promote life balance but do not actually practice it anymore.

Advice to Senior ManagementThey should be keeping people because they do their work well, efficiently (under budget) and work well with their clients. Instead, subpar employees are kept because their boss likes to play online video games with them, their parents work in high places (potential loss/gain of clients), or they've just been there too long to fire.

Great Company cutting deep in tough times!

Project Engineer (Current Employee) Richmond, VA

ProsThe company is great when times are good.
Great set of people to work with
    Lots of experience
    Company promotes from within
Many chances to grow since you are given the freedom to work on projects
Easy to take vacation and personal time
Company is transitioning its structure to stay in business

ConsCompany restructuring hurt a lot of people.
Company took away overtime but there isn't a realistic way of completing work in the deadlines set by management without doing such.
    Poor employee moral.
    Upper management has its favorites.
Company doesn't reward people for extra work and time put in.
Company wide paycuts rather than furlough days.

Advice to Senior ManagementCompany is very top heavy. Very high amount of project managers compared to amount of engineers and designers that are getting managed. Top heavy structure makes it tough to compete fee wise to get work.

    Only OK

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsGenerally nice people who mean well, flexible work environment, good work/life balance, during recession the company tried as hard as possible to keep as many employees as possible and would assist those that were let go

ConsManagement not very competent and not willing to make tough decisions to be successful, little room to grow professionally, clients are subpar, projects are not handled well, end results are not anything i'd want my name attached to

    Advice to Senior ManagementNone

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
