Average opportunities at a good company

    Pros

Company appears to value work-life balance. The people employed there are generally friendly and relatively talented with regards to their responsibilities. Department heads and all upper management are very good people that I feel encourage their employees to do well.

    Cons

There is a tremendous lack of vision or trajectory within the technology area. Unfortunately it seems that most managers have all but resigned themselves from any true responsibilities. On the other hand you might be able to use that as an opportunity to be creative and lead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I found that management operates with an open door. Keep that up.

    Pros

flexible hours. good for unambitious and complacent folks.

    Cons

Disorganized in all aspects. Big wastes & delays in projects, low pay. Company has no identity other than it is a Japanese insurance company. Most employees seem to be disgruntled but not ambitious enough to leave. No training, no learning, no mentors.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change entire management. Overhaul is much needed. More training. If you really want your business to grow, then you really need to hire competent people from top down.

    Pros

    Friendly and courteous
Compared to other companies, not demanding. Flexible hours, business casual.
If you have relationship with Japanese expatriates, you'll enjoy more
Training and education support is good.

    Cons

This company is in transition period.
CEO keeps on rotating, expats don't share what they are working on, and we are all wondering what will happen next. Home Office makes all the important decision.
Furthermore, pay is lower than market, and opportunity for advancement is limited.
Lastly they do not spend money on office - very dirty pantries and toilets.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

minimum they should resolve sanitation issues
