I have been working at Toshiba America Info full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, good 401K, large company presents more opportunities to expand career and learn more about the business.

    Cons

No fore site regarding IT infrastructure plan for updating hardware, software, applications. No longer test new applications prior to a Go Live date. Just roll out the applications creating more stress on company and IT dept. Lacking resources to complete projects in a timely and complete manor.

    Advice to Management

Develop a plan, test, test, test applications before roll out to company employees. Provide the needed IT professionals to complete projects the correct way.

Great if you want a job, not a career.

I have been working at Toshiba America Info full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work/like balance and benefit perks (although many tech companies offer more). Makes good products. Great place to gain cultural working experience (Japanese company). People are friendly enough. Good long-term employment potential.

    Cons

Very top-heavy management structure for a subsidiary, with many employees having little-to-no insight on goals and product strategies set forth by the company's headquarters in Japan. Because of the top-heavy management structure, there is little to no room for professional growth - and if you're lucky enough to receive a promotion, it may take a good five years to get it. There are many employees that have logged many years with the company, are still doing the same job and have become complacent and afraid of change as a result. Many employees don't know or care about the products the company sells. Its a very non-collaborative environment and there is often a lot of political infighting between groups. The environment can be stagnating at times; overall its a very different culture than what you would expect from a modern tech company. Salaries are often not market competitive and there is no employee stock incentive program.

Innovative technology company with short sight, inexperienced management team.

I have been working at Toshiba America Info full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has well recognized name worldwide, offers better-than-average benefits and compensations for high tech. They have leading technology and hired many good people.

    Cons

The company have grown too big over the years. The top management is focused on short term results, they lost sight of the company's core values. The organization is too bureaucracy to get work done. with frequent reorganizations/lay offs, majority of employees are afraid to speak up and take risk for the company's benefits. Not many job advancement opportunities here--full of discriminations and the HR is bias. You either need to quit, come back later to get a better title, or you will need to be in the "boys club" circle to get promoted. It is not about what you do or can do, it is about who you know. If you are good at office politics, never disagree with your manager, then you are safe.

    Advice to Management

Value the brand name and core value of Toshiba, don't be short sighted. If the current management team you brought in haven't positive results for many years, it is time to do something and make changes for the long run and promote within. Stop letting incompetent managers ruin the company.

I have been working at Toshiba America Info full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    good location in Orange County.

    Cons

Where to begin... cubes that are 6x6 with no sunlight, parking is horrendous, complete restructure of the benefits and salary without a warning, have to reapply for your own position. toshiba is scrambling to figure out how to save money and its thru cutting employee benefits/salary. I would not doubt if they just pack up and leave Irvine in a few years.

    Advice to Management

    Give up the US market.

Big time boy's club there is a caste system and most groups do not share important information

    Advice to Management

"don't look behind the curtain" you might see what is really going on. Remember things are not always the way they are presented.

    Pros

While nearly all other benifits are gone base pay continues to be higher than most companies at the present time.

    Cons

No 401K company contribution, no stock options, no bonuses, Canceled company sponsored retirement plan. Reduction in health benefits while increasing employee costs. Due to company being Japan based, most employees are pressured to work until 7pm or later.

    Advice to Management

It is well known that management meetings at the top are filled with high pressure and lack of respect for each other in the way they talk to each other. That filters down to the lowest levels as managers treat their subordinates with disrespect in front of their peers. Moral continues to be at an all time low.
