Pros – PACE model is great structure to manage our aging population. The mission statement strongly supports the values most staff want to bring to the table but corporate values no longer include the patients best interests. Great teamwork in some areas.
Cons – social workers are like a revolving door here, come and go. Corporate has lost touch with current staff and do not value input. High turnover in some centers has really upset patients who question the quality of the program as it stands now. Staff feel like strangers to one another with high turnover. Management is more interested in quantity over quality. Customer service absent most areas. Crappy parking some centers.
Advice to Senior Management – Patients frustrated with continual turnover in staff including social workers who play such a significant role in the company. This is 7th social workers to resign in past year at one location. Advice to management is connect to your staff again so that valuable employees want to stay longterm.

Current Employee – been working at Total Longterm Care
Pros – Working with geriatric population is wonderful. Fellow employees (on the front line) usually have the best interest of patients and others in mind. Benefits were just reduced but still competitive with other employers. Flexibility in scheduling and time off.
Cons – When the founder, Dr Orr, was at the company, it was a fantastic place to work. Employees were respected and honored, communication was excellent. We were given resources to care for patients. With current CEO and Board of Directors, the main focus is expanding with fewer resources. It seems to be only about the $$. Never know when someone is showing up at your door to escort you out. Several rounds of layoffs. Cuts in benefits.
Advice to Senior Management – Take care of your current employees and clients first. Don't be so ambitious to expand that everyone suffers. Communicate, communicate, communicate!

Current Employee – been working at Total Longterm Care
Pros – There is a true environment of team work at the centers. This is golden for working to promote the needs of patients.
Cons – There is no career ladder within the organization, so Social Workers have a dead end job.
Advice to Senior Management – Top down management is not necessarily always effective in leading a health care environment. A more mission centered approach would be wonderful to see.

Former Employee – worked at Total Longterm Care
Pros – The mission of the firm is what makes it a great place to work. The PACE model is the best model for geriatric care in the US.
Cons – Capitation by federal and state government has put PACE model at risk.
Advice to Senior Management – Move to assisted living has risk. Stick to the PACE model.
