Pros
Work balance, culture, respect for product in the industry, management, technical resources, and benefits.
Cons
Need a larger product set - to focused on one product.
Pros
- good environment overall
-hard working team
-very motivated technical group
- superior understanding of the key markets they serve
Cons
-alot of pressure on the market overall as the investment in core technology has not been there, and the company is hanging on
Pros
In a small company (>50) you meet and know what everyone else is doing and where to find answers or the people you need to work with. There's an open door policy (including the CEO) so if you have thoughts or ideas you can express them. The products we develop and sell are well received by the client base.
Cons
There's a limited focus (one real product) and limited focus on adding new and different tool/applications to the product line. Some senior decisions are made without clear direction or what seems to be a well thought out process.
Advice to Senior Management
Be realistic as to what you can achieve and what expectations should be set.
Pros
One of best benefits is opportunity to work with one of the most smart people in software industry. Company is very well known and respected in High Performance Computing community and you can also enjoy this kind of name recognition. As a nice side bonus you can also use best software tools for free. What is also very handy is very flexible work hours and opportunities to telecommute from home as much as you can.
Cons
Growth was not as you would expect from start up company and since company produces software tools for linux/unix developers, the market opportunities is not that great.
Advice to Senior Management
Grow, grow, grow more aggressively.
