I have been working at Towers Watson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedule, performance bonuses, good people to work with, ability to work from home, good benefits package, lots of growth opportunities

    Cons

Work-life balance can be a challenge, especially when large projects arise, such as client implementations or bulk lump sum offerings. Pay for pension analysts seems to be at the low end and it is difficult to get meaningful raises.

    Advice to Management

To retain talent, paying employees at a competitive market rate, instead of below, would help as would changing how salaries and bonuses are determined since individuals seem to have very little influence over that.

I worked at Towers Watson full-time

    Pros

Got a chance to work with many big time clients nationally and globally

    Cons

Very political, advance based on image versus actual work. Long hours all for a low salary

    Advice to Management

Work on developing people internally by leveraging their strengths rather than trying to creat cookie cutter associates

I worked at Towers Watson full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Did not micro manage, personally had a wonderful manager. A lot of matrix management.

    Cons

Most top management work from home, how do you manage a team in an office when you work from home? Disjointed in that respect.

    Advice to Management

Need to get your act together

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Towers Watson as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

TW pays the industry's highest to their customer service reps (CSR's) and provides all sorts of on-the-job goodies as an extra courtesy.

    Cons

TW's client contracts are very "rough draft" and require all sorts of testing before they become functional. Help is thus hard to come by as a CSR.

    Advice to Management

Increase accessibility of training and live-help. Don't make help a "free-for-all" and expect success from employees.

I have been working at Towers Watson full-time

    Pros

Work-life balance for the most part is good, at least for my area.

    Cons

Since the merger of Towers and Wyatt over five years ago there are still two cultures, although senior management is under the impression that has been resolved. (Maybe at their level, but not at the level of the everyday worker-be).

    Advice to Management

Listen to those in the trenches, not those who tell you what you want to hear.
